Well, yeah, insurance is all about pooling costs. What sort of idiot doesn't know this?

That last art you said about making others look more crazy? That.

Fine, let's deny Mad King Donnie health care until or unless the obese old pig cleans up his act. Every so often climbing out of a golf cart to take a swing with a golf club is no more real exercise than flinging ketchup at the wall, and don't get me started on his diet.

Personal responsibility is not just for the 99 percent.

Sounds like she's suggesting that only Republicans should have medical insurance.

At least she's a legitimate doctor, and not a functional medicine doctor like Casey Means.

She sells "herbal tinctures" which makes her as much a snake oil peddler as Means.

It's really frustrating that there are so many in this world that refuse to acknowledge the interconnectedness of all of us. The so-called lowest in our societies should have dignity and access to essentials. Not only would it improve that person's life but it would also make everyone around that persons lives better, too.

It's really gross that those with money and hypochondria can waltz into any specialist and jump the line while those who basically work for the health insurance have to jump through so many hoops to not be denied for treatments their goddamn doctor has ordered.

Snowolf100's avatar

It's not just hypochondria, there's a problem with doctors who do extra tests to rich people because they can bill them for the tests. Even if its going to show nothing.

This reminds me of my Plague Year comments to antivaxxers: “go ahead, don’t get vaccinated. After you die I’ll be at your house to grab your gun collection and liquor cabinet, provided the insurance company hasnt already looted them.”

<no libtards gonna git mah guns…but that vax. Horse paste??>

Wow. She actually said the ACA caused too many people to have access to healthcare, so doctors were stressed and burned out. The solution? Not more doctors and nurses to keep everyone healthy, but fewer people covered so that they would pull their health up by their bootstraps. This is how most Republicans think about most policies. Spend money on the wealthy, but the masses of poor and working class need to help themselves. It’s just incredible that anyone earning under $250,000 would vote Republican.

Anybody who says that people need to pay dearly for health insurance so that they "have some skin in the game" is an Abject Idiot. Nobody wants to be sick or in pain or to die early. We're talking about people's bodies here. They literally literally have their skin in the game.

Ashannfishsticks's avatar

It's crazy but these people think "good health" is a moral thing. Looking at their orange God King, it's so apparent morals have nothing to do with it

The next thing you know, there will be a ventilator crisis, with people addicted to ventilators and the DEA will limit the number of ventilators on the market so that people don't get addicted to breathing.

Incentivizations? Really? Sadly, this is actually a word. Try and say it, I dare you. The word used there should have been incentives.

Opalescent Riddles's avatar

The incentive is the thing you offer to the person as a mild form of bribery.

The incentivization is that act of creating or offering the incentive.

"they took away the incentivizations for good behavior choices..."

Ah, there it is. Grammatically, either term works here. The result of removing incentivizations is that the incentives are removed. So I agree that "incentives" would more concisely state the point.

Trudy Sirany's avatar

I love Substack. That is the kind of English Nerd reply I couldn’t get anywhere else. The word incentives would be grammatically correct, but would imply a different meaning than incentivizations, h/t to you.

However, I still think incentivizations is a strange word, nothing should have six syllables.

Boojum's avatar

The word that she should have used is "I'm an idiot and should shut the fuck up now."

Opalescent Riddles's avatar

We need a single word for that. It would get much use.

Permanently Confused@68's avatar

I bet the Germans have a word for that, and I bet it has over 20 letters.

These MAHA people want everyone to pull themselves up by their health bootstraps.

Boojum's avatar

Bootstraps?! Why, you were lucky to have bootstraps! We had to pull ourselves up by cutting slits in our skin and using them to yank ourselves out of the sickbed! Bootstraps! Whoever heard of such luxury!

Permanently Confused@68's avatar

You had a sickbed? SHEEER luxury!

Ta, Robyn. I'm so glad I don't have cable TV so I don't have to see Faux Noise even in passing.

All of you know I work with HIV positive adults in a clinic in The South Bronx. I did not know until Tuesday that out of 62 counties in NY, The Bronx has the worst health outcomes. Unsurprising given the poverty and lack of education.
