Strangely enough Louisiana is kicking ass too. Because we have a Democrat for a governor.

I'm astounded at the people from California taking their kids to Florida for spring break. Don't they listen to the CDC?

Not the college kids - they're going to be irresponsible. But grown ass adults? Damn.

For maskless people on crowded streets, some sort of pressurized can that releases a blast of air could clear a path through their air. The ear-splitting noise that also occurs seems to be a happy benefit.

"Let's treat these folks like they're immune,,," RU fucking kidding me?? "Let's pretend" is your actual, factual policy??? If pretending everything is great made everything great, we would have ceased needing "governments," and "experts," and "doctors" decades ago! What a wonderful world it would've been! would be!!

Shutting down travel between states is what Australia did. My state (Western Australia) also shut down travel within the state.

There were exceptions. You could cross borders for work, medical or "compassionate" reasons. For instance, my cousin was able to cross the intra-state barriers to visit her father in palliative care; and when he died, several of his grandchildren were allowed to cross the border to attend his funeral.

The big thing was that you had to apply for permission to cross the border. All interstate flights and road crossings had police checkpoints. No certificate of permission, no entry to WA. Result: with a population of 2.5 million, we had six covid deaths and no community transmission. Apart from one 5-day lockdown, we've been living a normal life for the last 10 months. No deaths. No masks. We're having gatherings, sporting events, celebrations, live music safely.

Now WA has several special features that allowed this to happen. We're isolated from the rest of the country by a huge swathe of desert. We don't have border towns. There are only two sealed roads that cross the border, and one of them already had a quarantine checkpoint for agricultural products. We have an extremely capable, charismatic and popular Premier who listened to the science and firmly resisted all attempts to force him to open the border before he was good and ready. A state like Florida couldn't close the border with that efficiency even if it wanted to.

But some effort would be nice.

It may be that the devil has got us by the leg, or the calf -- but we can still free ourselves from his grip with a swift and indignant action. Roll up a newspaper (no accident) and whack that pesky "devil" on his nose. Kick 'em in the balls, if you've got a clear shot. Repeatedly.

@Stephen I think Florida has finally vaxxed all Death-Santis's donors, because I was able to get an appt for my 75 year-old husband with vaccine finder, the very day they dropped the age to 50, and over, so I was able to get an appt, too. The health department texted me every day to vax me as well, because I didn't opt out until we got our jabs last week.

It is how they live their life, after all.

They just opened up last week, I got appts through vaccine finder, and found Publix near me. Then the health Dept also gave me an appt, or would have, had I needed it.
