Now that Tennessee has murdered the Confederate flag on license plates, and is giving serious thought to removing a bust of Confederate general and founding KKK member Nathan Bedford Forrest from the Capitol building, some Democrats in the state legislature think maybe it would be a
This is a scandal. If we rename the Nathan B. Forest State Park, what is to become of the Moroneus C. Cumbottem hiking trail within the park.
While it is true that Cumbottem was a terrible slave master who was actually known to eat his slaves when they became less productive, he was also a brave southerner who was just fighting to defend his state. If we can not commemorate and remember the brave defenders of state's rights just because they were horrible human beings, then the terrorists have won.
I, for one, will not stand by while great Americans are forgotten just because they were sociopaths or traitors. Really, is that the kind of country you want to live in?
That line of reasoning is becoming popular. The Army is okay with the flag since 40% of their recruits are from the South and Lee was such a brilliant general. SMH
I did not know that they had schools there. What do they use them for? Is that where they hide when god is mad because of gays and makes them have floods and tornadoes?
Here in California we have all these places called missions where Indians were welcomed to heaven by helpful Catholic evangelists. Also too, a bunch of stuff named after the Regional Manager of all that bible sharing right in the face until they were almost all dead (Father Junipero Serra).
In the area where I live we have a mountain called Mt. Diablo and subsequently lots of other things named using the word Diablo. Every few years christianists that don't like the devil get all hot and bothered and try to change all the things named Diablo to Reagan. I'm not sure what the difference is though.
Anyways, didn't all this stuff get named and the statues get erected (snicker) and the Bo and Luke Duke's flag going all over the place just happen in response to the Civil right movement?
IKR? I was like, huh? And today I am seeing how they do that to every damn thing they don't like! It's so ridiculous...I kept thinking that maybe people are buying into it because they are only hearing the words. When you read them, the nonsense leaps right out at you. I think they just talk really fast so their minions don't really process it, they just focus in on key words instead of taking in the fact that nothing their talking heads are saying makes any sense.
Either that or their minions really just are that fucking stupid.
As for their attitude that they are somehow being mistreated by the waving of the rainbow flag, fuck 'em. Their 'Christian' butthurt cannot compare to the open, bleeding wounds that LGBT people have suffered from all of their lives because of other people's bigotry. They deserve nothing but disdain.
As a non-Southerner living in Texas and I find out more details about the true history of the South and know the details of what these Southern "heroes" did...well, I keep counting the years till my retirement when I I can get the hell out of here. This information is so terrible...
That would be a REALLY camp orchestra.
Here's another method that works pretty well:https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Whitewashes it, you mean.
Tennessee alsotoo has a Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. Go, Tennessee, way to raise your kids.
But then, Texas has a John Wayne Gacy High School and a vocational college named for Torquemada, so there's that.
Patience, Grasshopper. In 30 years it will be Obama International Teleport. Good things come to those who wait.

Nice! About time that Pittsburgh's first physician got some recognition! Even if it is in Tennessee.

Feel better now?
Aretha Franklin? Dolly Parton? Elvis? Robert Penn Warren?... just from Tennessee.
I was gonna suggest Robert Penn Warren or Elvis Presley.

This is my first day as a political consultant
“Here’s the thing, I’m not for it or against it,” Stevens said.
Let me help you then. YOU SHOULD BE FOR CHANGING THE GODDAMN NAME. That will be $15,000 please.
Everyone loved the hanging gardens.
