Ooohhh! Elephant shrews.

ElderlyLoudCatWomyn's avatar

Hard to decide which is more adorable. The shrew meme or the baby talking to the dog. But I'll take both!

Michael's avatar

How shrewd!

SkeptiKC's avatar

They are such cute little creatures!

Perhaps Petruchio should have tried food? Not one, but two!

So that gray mass in the background is an elephant's rump?

Martini Glambassador's avatar

Does kinda look like an elephant leg. But it's just a tree. Heh, details do get lost during gif compression.

At first glance, I thought those were babby Anteaters. On a side note, my uncle was an aunteater.

tehbaddr's avatar

Also, they look like things from The Dark Crystal, too!

Miniture elepahants?

Distant relatives. True story.

Cutie shrews, not killer shrews!

"Tel Aviv for the shrews!" Or, "Let's eat these 'shrewms!"

(I've got a million of 'em.)

tehbaddr's avatar

(Killer Shrews are actually dogs)

Linda1961 is proudly woke's avatar

Yep, but I was going with the title.

Are they to scale?

tehbaddr's avatar

That is a question of mass importance.

The Taming of The Shrews?

ames's avatar

I thought the Taming of The Shrew was cute, right? No familiarity with the original work beyond its adaptation into romcoms.

Seeing it performed by Propeller to an audience that included raucous high school seniors was an experience I will never forget.

Alien: Earth used "a blanket with sleeves" as an example of a thing that could be invented but would have no reason to be, during an ethics debate.

TY(ou)L: Though wonderful, righteous, intelligent, and pious folks like Lord Stephen of Colbert are Tolkien nerds, so are some pretty shady folk who settled in the U S of A, like Peter Thiel.... [here be mild spoilers ahead, mateys; aaarrrrhh]

From Oligarch Watch link, "Valar Ventures" refers to the sub-gods (under the creator god*) who helped sing forth a more rich creation than *Eru Ilúvatar had begun...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valar

In case you're curious, Thiel would most likely be a closeted follower of Melkor, JRRT's Satan analogue in his writings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgoth

Sauron, the baddie in TLotR, begins as Melkor's (aka Morgoth's) lieutenant / majordomo until his master's demise in ancient history of Middle Earth. 🐉

Also earthshattering mo for me personally (a Japanophile) that 2 year old talking to her doggies seems to be speaking in Japanese. Nearly crapped my pants when she said (transliteration imperfect here) "Daijobu" which is "All Right" (I watch my anime and movies subbed, not dubbed, to get the real effect of the original performances. I might be wrong, but ... ahem: I'm pretty (99.98%) daggum sure.⛩️

As you were, nerd lessons are thru (for now)...🤓 Sorry to steal the teaching moments, my beloved comrades

The two year old's mother speaks Japanese and her father speaks English so the child is learning both languages at the same time. Of course, being as young as she is, she is just learning to speak and does not differentiate between languages. They are one language to her and she mixes them up delightfully. When I was her age my family was stationed in Honduras so for me it was a mixing of English and Spanish. It is a perfect time for her to learn more than one language.

That's the most wonderful and illuminating thing I've read/experienced in nigh on two decades of my life.

Looks like Candy’s documentary of Erika Kirk is pretty thin if she’s filling time with questions about a typo regarding her birth date.

"Okay, who sent me a mystery Birthday Slanket, and how soon will it be before Donna Rose and Lu both steal it from me forever? " Remember to insist on turning the plane around RIGHT NOW and to threaten the pilot's job if it gets left behind.

I find it adorable that Rep Mace called Hillary "unhinged".

Sure.

Also, that Comer called Sec. Clinton "miss Clinton" and all of the female representatives "miss" as well.

Your bird of paradise is amazing - she looks so happy and perky! I would punch a baby for a big sunny window like that.

This makes my blood boil. A really bad precedent

"Bill Clinton today will become the first ex-president forced to testify before Congress. He’s scheduled to be deposed near his home in New York’s Hudson Valley by members of the House Oversight Committee as part of its inquiry into sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

It follows yesterday’s deposition of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“We have a lot of questions for her husband,” said the committee’s chairman, Rep. James Comer, who told reporters he hoped to release a video of the deposition within 24 hours.

Jamie Tarabay reports that a charity controlled by Epstein contributed $25,000 to the Clintons’ private foundation. Epstein also donated to Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign and his wife’s 2000 Senate campaign.

Bill Clinton took several trips on Epstein’s private plane before Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to Florida state charges that included procurement of a minor to engage in prostitution.

Hillary Clinton told reporters she’s confident her husband knew nothing about Epstein’s crimes." (Bloomberg)

So THAT’S a slanket? Okay, I get the appeal now. I dunno though, bending down slightly to get my fat head through the neck hole might be too much work for me in the morning 😅

Linking to a HuffPost assembly of Jon Favreau's replies to Stephen Miller's "Victorian asylum patient energy" in trying to make the Democrats 'not standing for the American people over illegal aliens' at the SOTU a thing. A must read.

trumpies are so invested in this idea that violence is going to cow people into submission, that they get incensed when the world doesn't play victim. Minneapolis of course - three murders didn't stop the resistance.

I'm always wondering which Jon Favreau said what. Why are there TWO famous guys named Jon Favreau!?

Cincinnatus's avatar

Agreed! Jonathan Kolia Favreau is an American actor and filmmaker. Jonathan Edward Favreau is an American political commentator, podcaster, and the former director of speechwriting for President Barack Obama.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

Are you telling me Bill Clinton's former speechwriter didn't direct Elf?

Dina's avatar

I mean, I know who they both are but any time there's any news of "Jon Favreau does [insert funny or interesting thing here]" I always have to read it to make sure which one it is. I'd hate to be in a conversation with someone who says, "Oh, did you hear that Jon Favreau said..." and I reply with, "Yeah, I thought he was great in 𝘋𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵!"

ElderlyLoudCatWomyn's avatar

Too funny. I wish they'd shoot themselves a little higher up though...
