I have friends who have gone down the same rabbit hole. I can see it comes from fear and stress but they have become so obsessed with this ridiculous conspiracy narrative that they can't even see the inherent contradictions of it. They've been influenced by the same overseas generated propaganda that is circulating in the US, UK, Germany and so on. Apparently it's simultaneously a hoax or "just a cold" and no one dies of it except old or fat people and who cares about them, and a serious illness that an evil dictator state Premier unleashed to kill 800 people. Yes, a state Premier who says, "I hate to impose these rules on you but I really want as many of you to stay alive and out of hospital as possible" is literally Hitler and Stalin combined - who knew?
I no longer engage with them on this topic because it's just too tiring, and if they post misinformation in the comments of my posts, I simply delete them (just as if they had put unhinged leaflets in my letter box which go straight into the recycling bin). My (virtual) space, my rules.
Candace also noted that we "slaughtered our sons and daughters" in Afghanistan, apparently forgetting the way words work. Our sons and daughters died doing stuff that resulted in the deaths of about 70,000 Afghanistan residents, which suggests the slaughter wasn't pointed in our direction.
Russia just imposed masked mandates and lockdowns in Moscow and St Petersburg, don't hear any Republicans talking about let's go invade Vladimir land. I've said this before, Candice Owens just hasn't been the same since she lost her job on the pancake box.

Weeeell, I'm currently in iso awaiting the results of a pre-surgery COVID test. So "freedom" weekend feels a lot like lockdown weekend! But thank you. And I'm happy to comply because I am not an entitled narcissist. I had a lovely online yoga class this morning and the company of three cats (currently shouting at me) so I'm doing all right in the scheme of things.
It was nice to see my dad and stepmum for lunch after three months yesterday. But generally I am taking the approach of 'just because you can doesn't mean you should'. The rule is still 'if you can work from home you must work from home' and although once we hit 80% masks outside can go, I think masks inside will be a thing for months to come.
Do, do, DO try and sniff out 'Big Girls' Blouse', the sketch comedy from the '90s, which introduced Kath, Kim, and Sharon, to the world! From my chilly home in Ingerland, I regularly pop on the DVD to remember, fondly, golden times in Oz.
