Yeah, I guess Arizona has pretty good gun craziness.

But in Florida, we've got <a href="http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/5950304\/ns\/health-pet_health" target="_blank">this</a>.

People often forget that the US has over 200 million guns, it would take an act of God not an act of Congress to get rid of them.

Just when is the last time anyone saw hotcakes for sale?

Other than at the International House of Hotcakes, of course.

If they are such big sellers, why aren't there more Hotcake Hutts than Starbucks?

He did, however, learn to not take off his pistols when hanging a picture. The knowledge just didn't do him much good for long though.

Remember in late 2008 when gun stores were doing a land office business because the right wing nutz just knew President Obama was gonna ban all guns, magazines, ammo, et. al.?

The 'third rail' in this country used to be Social Security. Now it's gun control and the hard right prefers the 2nd Amendment over all others. While this tragedy will raise more money for the NRA and up Glock's quarterly profits the organized message is that anyone who blames this on angry rhetoric (or as one person wrote, "reasonable concerns") from multimillionaire hatemongers is worse than this deranged young man.

Yes, suggesting that Beck's or Limbaugh's or Hannity's rants might poison our national rhetoric or inflame already psychotic minds is an insult to all that they stand for. And profit by. The mere idea of a 'liberal media' is as tired a canard as 'fair and balanced: you decide'.

If anything inflames these self-appointed defenders of American values it's the idea that they might somehow be contradicted publicly, thus their hatred for the return of the fairness doctrine to the airwaves. Over the last 30 years the right wing machine has pushed objective journalism into a corner, where 'one person says this, another person says that' replaces a honest analysis of the preponderance of the facts. One climate change denier is equal to all scientists. One creationist is equal to all scientists.

Whether it's the fear of no longer being a white majority, or economic changes beyond their ability to grasp, or the slickness of the hate media and the huge tsunami of money companies can use to control our lives, most Americans prefer to stick to their long-term beliefs and ignore any evidence to the contrary.

A mentally-ill young man slipped through the cracks and committed a massacre for which he should face the punishment he deserves. And all of the rest of us are victims of his act.

Here in Ohio you can go through a drive thru and buy alcohol and ammo. That's right, beer and bullets with out leaving your pickup truck.
