You know those bullshit "Christian health ministries" that started popping up as "religious exemptions" to the ACA? Well, they're still going strong. In fact, I saw a TV spot for one during football this weekend, complete with the requisite tiny-type warning: THIS IS NOT INSURANCE.
Goddamn right it's not. It's basically a glorified restricted crowdfunding network that is supposed to pitch in whenever someone in the network gets sick.
Only if it's an expensive illness, especially a lingering one with high ongoing costs, all the crowd has to do is decide that you've had enough of their Christian generosity and, stage 3 cancer or not, you'll get no more.
And then you'll find that the government you've scorned and disdained, the government whose association with the ACA and the hated memory of despicable Barack Obama drove you to the "Christian health ministry" in the first place, is powerless to help you. Because yes, "freedom of religion" allowed you to depend on other "Christians" for your medical care, but guess what? It also allows those "Christians" to fuck you over.
I hear ads for "Medi-Share" on XM all the time. /for some reason, it annoys e slightly less than the "Advantage" ads I see and hear everywhere. Fuck Advantage plans. They're goal is to bankrupt Medicare and sell us their inferior replacement.
That's not entirely true. It's a trade-off, because if you want full coverage but want to avoid Medicare Advantage, your only alternative is a full government plan. That will cover 100% of everything, which is great, except that the monthly premiums are roughly double what you'd pay under Medicare Advantage.
Unless you have a lot of really expensive medical problems, which I don't (yet), paying the deductibles etc. under MA still works out to a better deal than the full-gov route. Plus you get dental and vision coverage, which full-gov doesn't offer.
Only outnumbering the fascists at the ballot box will stop President Klan Robe. There are too many enablers, embedded at every level, for even just one person to be focused on.
Trump spent four years telling us he’d release his amazing new health care plan that would cover everybody better than Obamacare in just two weeks. Obviously, he never did.
Johnson’s plan is just reversion to what we had pre-ACA, where insurance companies were free to take our money and then drop us the moment we needed coverage. I guess that’s what Jesus him told him is the Christian thing to do.
Good grief. Put the Orange Quisling in prison. Feed him bread without water, and water without bread, until he is convicted of some capital crime, possibly under the Espionage Act.
That won't fix America, but it'll fix his little red wagon.
And, of course, when he repeals Obamacare (petty retaliation against a far superior president) and all his supporters lose healthcare, it will be too late. Because we're not going to have the opportunity to change things anymore. Democracy will be over, and the Constitution will resemble a manifesto against the American people. Cry harder, MAGATS.
Funny how the Heritage Foundation health insurance plan, put into place by Governor Mitt Romney, suddenly became anathema when Obama took it nationwide.
Trump has no fucking clue about anything, but he has no even rudimentary understanding about the issue of health insurance. He says Obamacare is lousy healthcare, as if they are the same thing. Obamacare, obvious to a door knob, is the provision of insurance coverage to pay for health care. Health care is what the doctors,, hospitals, clinics, nurses, pharmacies, etc do for that pay. If only there was a procedure, or a pill, or a mental treatment that would cure what ails that pathetic orange wig stand....
There is, and it'll be coming soon enough for him in the form of bars and walls, ie. Prison. He isn't going to escape 91 Federal charges. No way, no how.
They have Hawley on the bench, still polling at a surprisingly high 0%, and those delightful women in the House. Tough to see any of them as actually worse than the Quisling, but they'd be trying!
The rightwing in this country has always been fascist-curious. I’m with you. Unless the Democrats go all scorched earth this next few election cycles, everything the Republicans accuse liberals of (concentration camps, erasing history, book banning) will be their ruling philosophy.
I fully expect Social Security and senior health programs to be defunded and shut down if the GOP wins in 2024.
If you think hoards of women angry about abortion rights is something, wait until you see middle aged and seniors with torches, pitchforks, and barrels of feathers and hot tar.
Believe me, they'll care. They just imagine it'll only be the Dems suffering because they're INCREDIBLY ignorant. And their Mom and Dad will be in the same boat too. "splain that one to them Lucy".
I remember reading about a British Boomer couple who were 100% for Brexit. Talked it up, voted for it, ate up all the propaganda with a spoon. Then were horrified and outraged when it scuppered their long planned retirement to Spain.
No no no, Brexit wasn't supposed to have any negative consequences for THEM!!!
Repealing the ACA would lead to a shorter life for this reader, I had no health insurance for years before the ACA, my premiums are now zero although I do have a high deductible. (Hey, that sounds a lot like the "public option" purity ponies got their panties in a twist about during Obama's midterms!)
To listen to someone tell me ol HJB was too old and he should drop out in favor of, I dunno, someone
Don’t be a Republican, it’s not good for your health. Or dating/marriage prospects.
Also too, if they take back the Senate and keep the House, they WILL end the filibuster for all of their fascist agenda.

Defeat every Republican, up and down the ballot.

They're really big into state's rights, you know.

"Trump has no fucking clue about anything"
`
That's because he's not only stunningly stupid, but he doesn't CARE about anything north of his ego or south of his wallet.
I considered saying "south of his dick", but that hasn't worked in decades.
According to Stormy, even if it worked, it's nothing to write home about. It's Melania's nuisance now.

he's still working on Obama's joke at the nerd prom, isn't he?
He's still working on growing up loathed by his father.
If Trump has a great idea for healthcare it's obvious, he's partnering with GoFundMe

The personal low point for the Republican Party SO FAR.
I mean, we all thought that was Reagan in 1981. Then it was Dubya in 2001. Now TFG. I really worry about what comes after him.
They have Hawley on the bench, still polling at a surprisingly high 0%, and those delightful women in the House. Tough to see any of them as actually worse than the Quisling, but they'd be trying!
The offspring of Hitler and Mussolini?

Not all of them. The ones who vote GOP will never protest, comforted by the fact that their enemies are hurt.
"Trump cut SocSec. Why did you vote for him?"
"Because he cut it for [N-words] too."
"But that's why you're living under a bridge."
"Don't care."
Believe me, they'll care. They just imagine it'll only be the Dems suffering because they're INCREDIBLY ignorant. And their Mom and Dad will be in the same boat too. "splain that one to them Lucy".

They won't care enough TO STOP IT.
That's really the point.
