I don't agree with the death penalty in most cases, but when they're defending themselves, it absolutely should have been more. The cops gave them a light hand, because they were all afraid of the Trumpenfuhrer.
Edit to clarify: I'm in agreement that Babbitt shouldn't have been the only one.

He’s also been surprisingly pro trans rights because he sees it as just part of the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of sex in the Civil Rights Act.
He’s extremely conservative but also a “black letter law” guy — the law says this, so that’s what the law says.
Yep. He’s been a strong advocate of Native American rights. He seems to believe, crazy talk, that the United States should actually honor the agreements that it has made with tribes.
I almost wish the cops hadn't been so good at their jobs that day. Mike Pence hanging in a gibbet would have made a more lasting impression of who these folks really were.
WASHINGTON — A federal judge ruled a civil case against President Donald Trump for his actions related to the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, can proceed. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta said many of Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, including remarks given on the Ellipse and in social media posts, could not be considered official White House acts, and said Trump’s team had not “carried his burden to demonstrate” that his actions were part of his presidential duties. Mehta noted Trump “remains free to reassert official-acts immunity as a defense at trial. But the burden will remain his and will be subject to a higher standard of proof.”
It's a small thing, but because of January 6 protesters, no one can say "oh you look so much like your father" without risking it being taken as an insult.
Going forward, we'll need a whole new affirmative defense for FTCA suits against TACO 2.0 officials, something along the lines of "utterly bereft of qualifications immunity."
I don’t believe so. The rocket is actually based on space shuttle tech. A central primary stage with four space shuttle engines (yes, same as on the space shuttles) and two solid rocket boosters on the side.
The "class" represented here are the Avant Garde of the Dead End.
Ashley Babbitt shouldn't have been the only one.
You are a retired LEO, correct? I trust your judgment. As a civilian, I thought the restraint shown was remarkable.

HA. This looks like the Last Supper, but slightly different...

Is it Gorsuch that's surprisingly pro native American?

Given half a chance he'll pose a question on that topic. It's almost like Trump prefers lawyers who are unprepared.
Yes
I damned near punched a hole in the wall this morning listening to that sonofabitch impugn the citizenship of members of my family.
[snarls...]
7-2 coming right up!
Apparently Any Boney Carrot was undecided, so probably 6-3 (there's no telling how Boof will vote).
'Hey Baabbitt' got all she deserved.
The videos of her ranting as crazy people often do were all I needed to see.
If I just happened upon her grave, I'd fart in it's general direction. (It's not worth a piss.)
Live by the 2nd Amendment, die by the 2nd Amendment. Kinda like Charlie Kirk.
Small price to pay...
Nothing of value was lost.
I think maybe these plaintiffs need some lemon pound cake in their lives.
I almost wish the cops hadn't been so good at their jobs that day. Mike Pence hanging in a gibbet would have made a more lasting impression of who these folks really were.
I have no love for pence, but watching the SS urging him to get into the car I kept yelling *DON'T GET IN THAT CAR! *
Kinda broke my heart a little in 2024 when Mike Pence gave up his bid to become the standard bearer for the Hang Mike Pence Party.

Ohhhh. Ahhhhh. Sigh. Big smile.
Do you need a shower or a cigarette? (grin)
He used compressed air to clean his teeth. "Cheaper than a WaterPik and portable too."

Two words: Qualified. Immunity.

I cannot wait to see the arguments against that principle.
Don't get me started on that. My bourbon has not been ordered yet.

I sincerely hope that Trump hasn't ruined this. :c I don't want to see another Challenger.
You’re just strapped inside a little metal cone on top of a thirty-story bomb, don’t worry about it.
And did Elon have a hand in it?
I don’t believe so. The rocket is actually based on space shuttle tech. A central primary stage with four space shuttle engines (yes, same as on the space shuttles) and two solid rocket boosters on the side.
As claustrophobic as I am I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to launch and summarily orbit this rock for a while if I had the chance.
Hell; that's what Valium is for.
I'd go in a heartbeat 💗
As would I although I would probably need to drop a few pounds to fit in the launch seats.
Me too
I keep thinking of the "I'm not going" kid from Apocalypse Now...
If NASA has been thoroughly trumpanzeed, then condolences in advance to their families and friends.
I think they have more competent leadership now/ Bill Nelson was a no show Administrator...Jared Isaacman knows his shit IMO.
Already? Dang.
We are in a groove so far- no propellant issues...
"MOM! MOM! MOM! MOM! I gotta PEE!"
That happened. Second Apollo launch, I believe.
Alan Shepard, first Mercury.......
Are we there yet???
He’s touching me!
