At present, I am owned by a tuxedo cat by the name of Coco Chanel (because she's black and white, duh) and a long-haired tabby cat named Cleopatra, who sits around the house looking very regal and sheds everywhere.
I am convinced that tuxedo cats (all of them) are terrorists by nature. Coco is the second one that I've had and she is just so, so bad. I made cranberry-orange mini muffins for Thanksgiving, had set them out to cool before I could glaze them. Found one in the dining room, ABC (already been chewed) by none other than Coco. Then, this week I made a cranberry bundt cake. As I was taking it out of the pan, a piece broke off. I set the piece aside, figuring that I would fix it when I iced the cake. Nope.
Couldn't find it anywhere. Asked the DH how he liked the cake and he said he hadn't eaten it. Which meant only one thing...Coco the terrorist tuxedo cat!
my scruffy dog was very jealous that someone had a duck to howl with - but since we're currently ankle deep in the fluff from the inside his latest teddy he can just get over it - he did go squeak his ball in solidarity. His new years resolution is to defluff more teddies
Great Googly Moogly, I miss having a furry friend. Unfortunately my apt is far to small for ME. Add a dog (Norwegian Elk Hound by preference at this particular moment; medium size, maybe 50-60 pounds and sheds, my gods, do they shed), include the fact that since I am mobility impaired, I can't a take friend to the park every day, oh and the fact I can barely afford to feed myself (can't believe I almost forgot that!) Thank god for social media so I can at least watch other peoples silly friends!
I was at the vet today with TWO cats. They were going to have separate appointments because one cat is a lot to take to the vet and two cats it’s ridiculous, but they called me and asked me if I could come on the appointments and I said yeah sure because why not?
Serendipity who is all of around 16 just had her monthly arthritis shot, and her annual bloodwork, and she demonstrated her stellar health by yelling nonstop from before we left the driveway until we pulled back in. Oh frabjous day! She did show off by jumping from the floor all the way up to the high counter. So there is that.
Máebh was in a few weeks ago and her blood work looked wonky, so she was back for another look, but also, this Vet took an interest when I explained that she was having trouble walking. And so we discussed that some more. I’ve been sad about this because I didn’t know if it was the FIP coming back to finally claim her, or what the fuck. But the vet seems to feel there are things we can do, and she’s a very good listener. I told her I felt that it was more pain related than nerve related and she gave me some meds to try.. Also, although serendipity is the elder, Máebh was much better behaved and didn’t yell at all and all the people who worked with her said she was really sweet and nobody who worked with serendipity said she was really sweet.
Also, I noticed that all of the people at the vets office with their animals ranged from aging to antique. And somebody explain that please? Where did all these old people come from? And why are they looking at me as if they were wondering the same thing? They all looked time-ravaged and bewildered, like they had no idea how they ended up there in that condition.
My sweet kitty Farrah tried to get into my phone when I played Ruby's video! She seemed very, very concerned about her. Which I thought was sweet. I'm definitely going to try to be more like Farrah this coming year. This cat is zen, baby.
Thanks to you and your adorable dog and cat posts! Dok the Cat is now a favorite of my Rain the Cat 😻, who lays his head on my feet whenever I watch something on the TV screen, just like Dok does with you. Here's to a better 2025 than we expect, with blessings to all kind people, and to our beloved furry family members. 🐾
Boogie can’t play in the ocean enough. Or chase squirrels. Or chase frisbees. Or play with his friends. And still Lucy howling is the greatest thing I’ve seen today. Happy new year Wonka tears.
If I could WISH NY resolution for my cats it would be for Saffron to stop if being a bitey scratchy twat. For Cooper I wish that he would put her in her place but he’s too much of gentleman (scardey cat).
Hasn’t happened yet but gonna try dry January. I don’t usually make resolutions for the new year when you should do them all year long. No shame on those who do however.
Our 14 yo cat, Fiona, mostly sleeps the day a way. She will go out in the backyard once a day. We have a little shelter box from the rain for her. She doesn't go in, she goes under it. I read in bed before I sleep. She comes up and lays down next to me, takes her back leg and moves my hand to her belly. The only cat I have ever had that likes their belly rubbed. Tonight we have to give her drugs as our neighborhood is like WW 111, often until 3am. Ugh.
I like Evan’s laugh after Ruby’s soliloquy

But we love here, regardless.

Here is a short video clip of Clementina the cat on her daily walk. For the full effect you have to turn on the sound.

Adds new meaning to the term "cat box."
