Hey conservatives, here’s that lab leak you ordered.

———————-

MeidasTouch: NEWS: A 28-year-old researcher at a Russian anti-plague institute has died following a suspected lab accident in Siberia.

Nearly 200 people are reportedly under observation and hospitals have been quarantined amid concerns over possible pneumonic plague.

Great, now we're cosplaying Resident Evil

I was thinking the Walking Dead, with the living being the "Walking Dead"

They've spent so long making socialism a dirty word, they've never stopped to think about how wrong they are. Mamdani is brilliant and I hope more Democrats start to emulate him, and on the national stage too.

SkeptiKC's avatar

I've been a Democratic socialist for more than thirty years. I want to see Democratic socialists on the ballot.

I hope like hell that I live long enough to see a proud Democratic socialist POTUS in the White House. Extra points if that POTUS is a woman.

The problem with dialing Trump's number is he very well might answer, and then bend your ear for half an hour..

Belle la Bête f/k/a Girl Guide's avatar

It’s a referral number for the Samaritans. You dial up Trump and then you’ll be pleading to have your call transferred to a suicide hotline.

TerseNurse's avatar

half an hour, if you are exceedingly luck

VaselineHabits's avatar

I was going to say, an hour at minimum

Chemical's avatar

I would have expected that to be a 900 number

Shocktreatment's avatar

It is entirely possible that Mayor Mamdani makes these things appear fluid and effortless, while at the same time communicating the fact that much effort, and considerable forethought is his practice, because he's a formidable person, able and willing...

I'm a lifelong Democratic Capitalist, and I always will be. But the capitalism of robbery and pillage has to stop.

Georgiaburning's avatar

Aren’t robbery and pillage simply over-aggressive marketing and supply chain management?

Pauly2coffees's avatar

Is there any other kind?

SkeptiKC's avatar

On this timeline, no.

That's why I've been a democratic socialist for thirty+ years.

Bless his heart, but Von looks like a very gone-to-seed Billy Ray Cyrus.

Tecolote's avatar

Von's chud listeners are not going to ever vote for Mamdani or change their ways. I think Zohran could have used that hour better.

But the best republican this cycle is Paxton. He is so villainously evil and corrupt, he is vile, repulsive and unapologetic about it. He is the ultimate expression of the marriage of modern republican politics and vast dirty money, expressed as a 6' turd with bad skin. His face is crooked. One eye is bigger than the other eye, a common physiognomy of convicted serial killers on death row. In Paxton, we find it all, every bad thing possible in a person stuffed into a man shaped sausage casing. If fucking horns grew out of his head nobody would be surprised. Like Santorum, his name should linger on, if there is something horrible enough to deserve it.

swmnguy's avatar

Last night, watching baseball, I saw the ad Paxton's estranged wife made for Republicans, where she doesn't name him but is clearly telling Texans to vote for him so their team wins.

It's pretty gross and self-debasing; but it's MAGA so I'm repeating myself.

Chino Cherokee's avatar

Talarico should run the EXACT SAME ad, but with Paxton's mistress. (and vote dem, obvs)

LMFAO!!!

EyeQueue's avatar

The mistress is a "Christian influencer" with 7 kids.

These people are insane, y'all. Just fucking broken human beings.

And I bet the Texass Christians slurp this shit up.

Sorry, I can't help myself. I'm covered with shame.

A woman eating shit for a disgusting "man."

Fuck her. Another woman who goes cheap for power and/or money.

Land Shark 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

that whole divorce due to "biblical reasons" is total horseshit. The woman has agency ... she could have told Paxton to fuck off.

EyeQueue's avatar

She's obviously a soft-minded little numpty.

vorpal 🇨🇦 Elbows Up! 🇨🇦's avatar

Nope, shes a hard, calculating opportunist, state senator and grifter. One of her laws she sponsored allowed Paxton be exempt from state felony charges of being a unlicensed securities provider by putting the power to allow this under the AG office that Paxton was running.

Zero sympathy for her.

Martha Howell's avatar

It's her Biblical duty to support her husband!

Vic's avatar

Well, look who she willingly chose as her spouse.

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

She hid him in the back of her SUV so he could sneak past the press to visit his mistress of the moment. That was a very specific choice.

It's really revealing as to what a mess America truly is, that there's anything out of the ordinary about Mamdani, El-Sayed, or any [insert name here] "Progressive" politician saying that Capitalism should work for both employer and employee.

I'm so old, I remember when that was the bog-standard American cliche. Hell, that was straight outta Ronald Reagan, and now it's Wild-Eyed-Anarcho-Sociamalism!!!

However, I grew up in a rural area so I saw firsthand the hollowness of that anodyne concept. My first employers made sure to tell us that there were more prospective workers than jobs, and we could and would be replaced at the drop of a hat. For asking for a raise, or to take a day off, or to have basic safety standards. And it was true, in that place at that time, and we were treated that way.

I remember clearly the first time I'd had it enough to tell an employer I had to have a dime raise, up to $3.45/hr. (MN minimum at that moment was $3.35/hr.), after two years of working every shift assigned and showing up mostly on time and apparently sober. I got the "You can be replaced" line. I responded, "And you'll have to train in the new person, who gets paid the same as me, and doesn't know how to do the job and may be less reliable." And then I walked out. He told me I'd be back, and he might not hire me back. Whatevs, dude.

I hadn't told him that I was moving to The Cities anyway. Where I got the same damn job, except at $8.00/hr., and my rent and all my bills stayed the same because landlords in a small college town colluded to keep rents high, and market forces actually applied in The City.

(((What Fresh Hell Is This)))'s avatar

Not what anti-Semitic means.

Personally, I think we should go back to using Judenhass (Jew hatred). Much clearer.

There's no "Semitic" ethnic group. Palestinians are different from Arabs who are different from Syrians who are different from Iraqis.

R. Riddle's avatar

The thing I keep being impressed with is Mamdani's empathy and his enthusiasm for New York City and its diverse people. He's someone who cares and he shows genuine joy when he can make things better.
