Mail-in ballots have generally favored Republicans because a lot of retirees and military use them. Why they're scrambling to kneecap themselves like this is just beyond me. Hey, though, as Napoleon once said, never interrupt your enemy when he's in the middle of making a mistake...

Money's also a factor. The House Republican caucus especially seems to be filled with businessmen with no prior government experience who simply took the billionaires' largess to flood the airwaves with attack ads and only have one campaign style that's been amazingly effective until now.
