I was referring to conspiracies where some shadowy group of people have god-like powers to affect events. Liberalism -- despite what you or Glenn Beck may think -- is not a shadowy conspiracy. And it certainly doesn't have god-like powers or I would be richer and getting laid every day. But birthers and the folks who think Obama is the enemy, are struggling to explain how he could do something straight-up patriotic.

During the birther "debate", someone on teevee said people believe conspiracies like a religion. When confronted with contrary facts, they don't change the belief. Instead, they expand the conspiracy to "explain" those facts. The short form certificate became an "obvious forgery"; the newspaper announcements became "ads placed by the grandparents".

The TP'ers and Repubicans will not give up their belief that Obama is an un-American, Muslim who hates the military and wants to put the nation's security at risk. When he kills bin Laden, it's because of Bush, or to cover-up the deficit, or to advance the Caliphate.
