Okay, here's my 2 cents worth: probiotics and prebiotics. Until I discovered these, my digestion was set on "random". Sometimes diarrhea, sometimes constipation, never predictable. Now one simple capsule a day and totally regular. Absolutely wonderful.

Might especially be a good idea for the folks below who are having gastric/digestive reactions to their meds/vitamins. Very many brands on the market, find out what the folks on Amazon like best and start there.

There is also the rare individual who stores up too much iron and they must be periodically bled! Another reason to find out what one's individual needs are.

Don't know if this is already mentioned, but using cast iron cooking pots/pans can actually add iron if using an acidic ingredient like citrus, vinegar, or tomato.http://goaskalice.columbia....

I had a lot of problems for a long time re: iron deficiency even tho I was taking LOTS of iron (increased over time because it wasn't helping enough...) Had seen several drs specifically about this. Was in for an apt and the dr was dragged away for something else so I ended up seeing just the nurse practitioner. He was the first / only person to mention this to me: taking an iron pill is like eating nail: so concentrated that your digestive system has a hard time breaking it down and absorbing it. Taking a higher mg pill just means that there's more that you're not processing / absorbing. Instead, with your iron take something acidic that will break the iron down so that you can absorb it. A glass of OJ, etc. I'm diabetic so I take a half tab of vitamin c with my iron. I've been able to reduce how much iron I take from 3 tabs/day to 1 and my blood iron is now consistantly good.

Hi, Robyn - Get Spirulina from a health food store. Look up the profile on Nutrition Data.

Not sure if you are vegan or a vegetarian - or neither -but, spirulina - though gross - has lots of iron.

It's super green, tastes gross - which I like, actually, and for some reason - and if you put it on a spinach salad and mix it all up with Italian dressing it will still look like tempura paint, but eat it, anyway. Then, drink Vitamin C. If it is too gross for you, we probably could not be friends. - Anne Cary

I drink plenty of bourbon and have been living on Sarah Bernhardts the last few days, so I should have all of the vitamins and minerals covered.

No, I like a glass of chocolate wine, when I think of it, when playing video games. But, I forget it most of the time, so maybe, twice a month, do I remember.

Understood. I'm a fair-skinned Scot, so I get it. For me, at this point, I had so many really horrible sun burns in my youth that I don't think it matters for me at this point. I have severe sun damage on my forearms and have been referred to Dermatology for it. Unless I'm doing my '15 minutes of sun' I wear sleeve things on my forearms when I go out. Partially because my arms look as if I was beaten with a logging chain.

I understand that works better if you don't wash. Something about sun and body oils. Those who shower daily may only get skin cancer.
