“If I had to bet..."

You know that guy already has money on it on Kalshi, and he told everyone else in the administration about the decision to nuke the execution before they began putting info out to the public.

By this logic, if we held public executions by firing squad of every school shooter who doesn't save the last round for themselves, people would stop shooting up schools?

Except, of course, those who save the last round for themselves, but I think that goes without saying.

We'd be executing kids in many instances and nobody wants that.

The Death Hour is ok for television, but just listen to everyone scream "indecent," if they show a woman's breasts.

Whiskey Pete will be the first to go after the midterms.

Risky, but perhaps a public execution would be the spectacle needed to convince everyone to get off the fence when it comes to support for the last country to use executions in the western hemisphere.

cynmac's avatar

Not sure about that. Just look at the reaction to BLM.

It's like this -- You are in charge and You want to execute someone: YOU do it, Pete. You. With a skillet.

He'd prefer an axe I'm sure.

How about a bat?

Let's livestream Secretary of WAAAAR!!!!1!1!11! Pete Hegseth beating a guy in a wheelchair to death with a bat. Up close and personal.

That's about as High-T as it gets.

And he gets no PPE

By which I infer that she still claims him. Which is mad tough.

You want some whipped cream on that cocoa? If they cancel the execution, it will piss off all the MAGA sociopaths right before the midterms. Just another reason to be mad at the rapist and his party. Furious at being denied their brown-person murder (they had their lube and Kleenex all ready), they will grumble and pule and not vote (one million smiley-face emojis)!

Given the hash that was made of the Christa Pike execution attempt(s), one would think that the Army may not want to televise the execution.

My understanding of firing squad executions is that only one rifle contains a live round, the rest are blanks. What it the round misses, or the prisoner doesn't sustain an immediately fatal wound?

Do we gat to watch him bleed to death? Do the soldiers get another chance to try again?

Bitter Scribe's avatar

I think you have that backwards. One rifle has a blank round, the rest are live.

Mr Mild - BlueVotingBastard💙's avatar

You and Jessica may be right.

It's something I'd rather not think about right now. Either way it's not something to broadcast, or livestream, or invite people to witness.

Jessica's avatar

I think it's one blank and the rest live, so each shooter can console their conscience with the thought that they might have had the blank

Imagine my surprise to see the book I mentioned in a comment earlier today featured in the above YouTube video.

Most mass shooters are a) suicidal, b) looking for fame, c) both.

Killing a mass shooter is part of their plan in the first place. They count on the cops showing up so they can suicide by cop. It is why it will backfire to have CCW in schools, because the more guns at a location the more the shooter will want to go there.

Killing a mass shooter on television will cause an increase in mass shootings. Can you imagine: the loser who wants fame by shooting a bunch of people gets to go on TV and get executed? This would be motivation for them. They motivate each other with on-line fame on chatboards, imagine how motivating a live execution would be for them.

As for any who think this might be a deterrent, it won't be. People watching violence get almost immediately desensitized to it; brutality leads to more brutality, not peace. When the campaigns against public executions were going on, they pointed out the absolutely detrimental effect those executions had on the crowd watching.

Death penalty as deterrent is the same thing as the good guy with a gun thing. If you don't think about it for more than a second, it sounds good, truthy. If you actually think through either of those and how these things play out in reality, you immediately see that it is bullshit.

Mr Mild - BlueVotingBastard💙's avatar

The Death Penalty is not a deterrent, and never was.

oscarphile's avatar

"Golly, I had no idea being firing-squadded was so unpleasant. I will never crime again!"

That's not the only reason it's not a deterrent. Too many Americans think they are immune to consequences. Seeing a million COVID deaths did not spur them to mask or vax; watching Trump be racist for the entire half-century of his public life did not deter POC from voting for him, nor did pussy-grab boasting deter women. Even if the execution were televised, a lot of people would simply not connect that cause/effect to their own hypothetical future actions.

"I never thought the leopards would strap ME down for a lethal injection!"

Christopher Bosch's avatar

That is easily taken care of by the traditional coup de grace.

What a surprise that Cadet Bonespurs, who has never bothered much to conceal his disdain for self sacrifice, would so thoroughly ruin the armed forces he do enjoys boasting about and threatening other countries with? It is as if our God Emperor of the Despicable was a foreign agent taking orders from Moscow.

I stopped being a Michael Moore fan partway into his documentary “Roger & Me,” when he interpolated a scene of an official beheading in a Saudi sports stadium. Later, he cemented my feelings about him by being a pompous windbag on the then MSNBC.

Make it an even match up so that it doesn’t look like Random Drunk Hegseth is bully killing a disabled , helpless person. Turn it into a bum fight. Make it a death match in a barbed wire ring between the shooter and Gregg Abbott. Or for NASCAR fans, a death race between the two , driving Hayabusa motor driven wheel chairs on a race track.

Ari Aster should direct the live execution. Anyone who has watched Midsommar knows that Aster understands that people are horrified by the sight of mangled human corpses. But for insecure, troubled dudes like Hegseth, it’s a show of real strength to shoot a man in a wheelchair to death on TV. Awesome promo for the midterms. Trump making insane commercials with taxpayer money. Trump Jr’s former fiance asking “Honey,” a GOP loyalist, to secretly pay off her $100k credit card debt. “Kimberly” Donald Trump said, he likes to call her. It’s his pet name for her, he said. He calls Kimberly Guilfoyle “Kimberly” because it’s a cute pet name. You see?

Vote these repugnant fuckers out.

No, no

Have Robert Rodriguez, director of ‘Machete Kills’ & ‘Grindhouse’ direct it.
