It was either lab or zoonotic, but when a lab has been experimenting with bat viruses in Wuhan, where it is known to have originated, which is most likely?

Who cares. This is irrelevant.

They will NOT accept the truth about Covid. My oldest friend (since I was 8) sat across from me at lunch and said "No one is dying, it's lies". Hubs works as a customer liaison at our local hospital. There were beds in the hallways, cafeteria and anywhere they could fit them. Her response was that if you went into the hospital with Covid and you died from a heart attack, you didn't die from Covid. And that the hospitals were just after that sweet Fed money. She STILL believes that. Go figure.

Marycat2021's avatar

I am 68 years old and I have never had covid. I followed every recommendation given by the CDC, got vaccinated, and that is why. Not because of any "natural immunity." My older daughter has had covid twice, while my younger daughter has never had it - and they both work for the same company and in the same department. My point is that making statements about people getting covid 5 times while saying at the same time that people have "natural immunity" is brainless babbling. The idiots are in charge in Trumpistan, so it's foolish to engage with them on this.

Trump's long delay in ordering vaccine research and development killed people in huge numbers. He also refused to order mask mandates and ordered workers to report to their jobs even if they were ill. Now that there's a lunatic running HHS, our next pandemic will likely kill millions. Claiming that the danger is over is foolish.

People who have a rigid, ignorant outlook experience learning (and any other kind of change) as traumatic, and they quickly become infuriated with the agents of change.

Linda Osika's avatar

We do not have “natural immunity” to it. Of course we don't. And the talking anal orifice absolutely proved that when he claimed that people were getting Covid-19 5 times. If they're getting it that many times they don't have immunity to it.

But we were lied to at the start of Covid-19.

Those lies killed hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Those lies were told by DONALD J TRUMP.

And that one, indisputable fact should be pointed out to these mutated sperm cells every time they start spewing out their sewage.

Marycat2021's avatar

I remember that in April, 2020 he claimed covid was "going away" and that everybody should go to church on Easter Sunday. And of course, the "drink bleach or shine a light inside the body" crap, and he publicly announced that he was taking Hydroxychloroquine to prevent covid, then got sick with it. When Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed in the SC, Trump hosted a superspreader event at the WH and also held a rally despite the danger.

My brother in law babbled to me over the weekend that he'd listened to the whole RFKJr hearing and it was "nothing like the soundbites" in the news. He highlighted RFKJr saying that the people he fired at the CDC were working other jobs at pharmaceutical companies. I immediately looked at him and said, "BS!" I work for a vendor supplying the US government. In order to do so, we have to take training on conflicts of interest. This includes taking jobs with the government. IT IS NOT ALLOWED. On the other side, the government employees working with us are not allowed to also take a paycheck from us. IT IS NOT ALLOWED. A crafty employee might be able to get away with it for some period of time, but not dozens of CDC employees. It's certainly not endemic.

When your favorite overpriced granola cosmetics company (they have a great rose oil line) turns out to be evil Nazis from hell: WELEDA. Guardian:

“The natural cosmetics company Weleda supplied a skin cream to the Dachau concentration camp that went on to be used for human testing, resulting in the agonising deaths of prisoners, a historian specialising in Nazi Germany has claimed.

Weleda, founded 104 years ago and known worldwide for its holistic remedies, sourced large quantities of medicinal herbs during the Nazi era from an agricultural plantation overseen by the SS in Dachau, southern Germany, according to a major report by Anne Sudrow commissioned by the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site.”

Amanda Marcotte on why RFK Jr will not be fired by Trump . . .

'Being able to publicly call a bona fide Kennedy by their familial nickname is, for someone as narcissistic as Trump, a substance with heroin-levels of addictiveness. . . .

'For someone so status-obsessed, collecting a Kennedy is a very big deal. Trump doesn’t hide his fixation on the Kennedys, who have achieved the quasi-royal status Trump desperately wants his family to have. It’s almost certainly why he’s made abusing the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts a major priority for his new administration. The Kennedy Center is a symbol of the family’s reputation for being classy, cultured and widely beloved — all qualities that Trump will never have, no matter how much fake gold he plasters all over the Oval Office. . . . His obsession comes down to envy, which also appears on that narcissist checklist, and is one of Trump’s dominant personality traits, along with sadism, cowardice and racism. . . .

'There’s no strategy here. Trump just likes being able to ring a Kennedy on the phone and call him “Bobby.”'

Never mind he appointed them. The press will be sure to point out, when the time comes, how Bobbie Brain Worm was a Life Long Democrat

I remember having a pretty nice dream where people were outside talking and I went on the balcony to tell them to quiet down, but there were 2 Japanese exchange students eating spaghetti it there—I asked who told them they could be on my balcony and they said (former coworker).

And then I was on the back of someone’s motorcycle and we were speeding along but reindeer kept jumping at us.

But then I woke myself up crying out’no!’ And it woke up the husband. I couldn’t get back to sleep so here I am.

Morning, all!

Well Dressed & Incredibly Jen's avatar

I found em at the goodwill ^.^ One of the ones in FBurg are right by a pretty nice college so all the name brand shit ends up there. Sometimes with tags still on em!

I love me a quilted bag, and it has a long enough strap I can wear it like a satchel cross my chest

The pink one is a bit big, but the blue one does not really fit my tablet for when I am reading on the tablet instead of an actual book. So I switch between em depending on what I am reading XD

BosGrl's avatar

Yeah, that one is more like a duffel, but I have so much to carry to and from school, and it fits two laptops, which is great.

With this drain/flooding problem, I'm going from full-on narcolepsy one moment to stark full-on eyes wide open wakefulness the next. And my brain is misfiring something fierce. I'm struggling to stay functional until I can make all of the phonecalls I need to make to arrange for having major plumbing work done and getting insurance online and/or financing etc. etc. I'm fucking overwhelmed. At least my kitchen drain is capped so I'm not worried about it flooding. I was having outright panic episodes whenever I heard a noise that sounded like the kitchen drain was starting to back up. I couldn't sleep or function for shit for the past two days. But I've actually been this way over the past five years of this problem recurring. It makes me crazy. And having neighbors who I can't communicate with and won't cooperate makes me want to go all ICE on them to send them the fuck back to Mexico--knowing that being that way is completely wrong. I hate feeling so fucking broken all the time. I don't know how to be myself anymore.

Sorry, I'm venting because it makes me feel just a tiny bit better knowing that somebody might be hearing me.

Mad Ophelia's avatar

That sounds incredibly overwhelming. I hope that it is resolved soon and you are able to get some restorative rest. Gentle internet hugs.

455 Rocket Cat's avatar

My sewer line backed up twice last year, then maintenance flooded my unit with sewage by trying to flush the toilet several times instead of clearing the line. It was overwhelming and a miracle I did not drink. Several days, if not weeks, to remove contaminated items and clean. Be *really easy* with yourself coping. Sewer is traumatic in a way that water isn’t. Don’t try to save anything contaminated, because it will always stink. Just replace. Sorry you are going through this.

Hamilton & The Crew TEAM ALGAE's avatar

At least it's the kitchen drain line and not the shitter drain. And it does not back up onto my shitter drain. So there's that. Of course it's not backing up at all since my plumber capped the kitchen sink drain. Now my upstairs neighbors will flood instead. Not that I feel great about that, and I hope my ceiling does not get fucked up by flooding up there. Thank dog for insurance.

Biff52 Lost Canadian's avatar

I used to be the upstairs neighbor. A friend lived downstairs. He was a HVAC contractor. He offered to plumb in a washing machine for me. That was risky for him, using a dry vent for the waste line, but it worked flawlessly.

I'm glad I'm in a single story house now, stairs suck in my decrepitude.

Good luck squaring that shit away.
