Make enough money, and you turn into a Republican.

I have carefully cultivated a palate over the years that now enjoys the deliciously bitter burnt mud and charcoal taste of coffee. I don't notice any buzz from it, though. As for alcohol, I sometimes drink it for the buzz, but once again, having trained long and hard, I've learned to enjoy the flavor profile of pine needles and rubbing alcohol of a high ABV IPA, the freshly-gnawed oak tree taste of a Chardonnay, and the distilled lighter fluid finishes of Kirkland vodka.

you can't say they're not smart and strategic with the placement of their locations. I noticed that when I saw them pop up in Chicago in the most unexpected spots.

that could very well be the case. I just get almost instant heartburn from their coffee.

Until capitalism is gone, it will always be a "bad week for labor," never good.

I imagine there will be loads of Republican outrage when they realize that she's not corn-fed all American white girl Julie-Sue, but rather the child of immigrants.

That does seem to be how it works, sadly. :(

If by "all coffee" you mean the stuff people buy pre-ground in tins from the supermarket or corporate coffee shops, then yes, it's mostly the shits.

I however am extremely picky about my coffee and buy whole, single-origin beans from a small roaster and grind them myself at home. I have spoiled my and Son of Prickly's palates for more processed coffees but I feel like it's worth it.

Also, [Su's] nomination seems to have really pissed off the editors of The National Review, who wrote a collective letter whinging about her nomination

Judge yourself by the enemies you've made.

I meant all coffee. It tastes like garbage. I get that some people like to drink shit that tastes like garbage. Not my place to judge them.

Elaine Chao was Bush, Jr.’s Secretary of Labor.

Or do you mean American born person of Asian ancestry?

May Warrior Met Coal suffer a similar fate to the nickel refining plant I used to live near. Like Warrior Met, they underpaid their workers and treated them like crap. Of course everyone who could leave, did; meaning the plant was not only chronically understaffed and everyone was inexperienced, but morale was in the toilet and no one gave a shit about anything.

The heart of the operation was, of course, the huge kiln itself, which melted metal to liquid. One day a "turkey" formed in said kiln - a lump of material that had stuck together and wasn't melting properly. There are safe and effective ways of dealing with turkeys. But the workers were too poorly trained and jaded to know or care what they were, so they just cranked up the heat.

By the grace of God no one was killed or even injured, so it's fine to revel in the carnage.

The entire kiln literally fucking melted.

They had to let it cool for a week before they could even assess the damage. The government department in charge of workplace safety was PISSED. The entire plant was inoperable. The damage was so extensive it was a rebuild rather than a repair, and took FOUR YEARS. Share prices tanked. High level people were sacked. Nine to ten figure numbers of revenue was lost. The parent company lost a LOT of prestige. Questions were asked in fucking Parliament.

All because of they didn't think it was important to treat their operators like people. FAFO, gentlemen.
