I seem to remember Republicans forced a vote on it, and nobody in the House voted to defund the police, and Cory Booker was ecstatic that Republicans had shown that no elected Democrat supports defunding the police.

Only because the endemic corruption exposed in the police is not a problem for them. They are counting on these crooks in uniform to protect white interests. These are people with money, and with a heavy, heavy guilt complex, but also uninterested in changing status quo.
