Seven. The answer is "Seven." That's how many of a Canadian mom's children (out of seven) had to get whooping cough to persuade her that her previous opposition to vaccines was just a wee bit wrong-headed. The good news: All seven responded well to treatment and are now out of isolation. All it took to completely put Tara Hills's anti-vax beliefs behind her was more than a week of home quarantine with seven children -- the youngest just 10 months old -- and their dry hacking coughs, sometimes so violent the kids vomited. Let's hope that just maybe some others may learn from what her family went through, maybe?
Too bad her children had to suffer in order for their own mother to learn how to raise them to adulthood. I hope there's no other lessons she needs to learn.
Alex Jones is trying to decide whether to claim her whole story is a lie, or that Big Pharma must have deliberately given her kids pertussis as part of a sinister plan to turn us all into cyborgs or something. (emphasis mine)You say that like it's a bad thing. #liveforeverordietrying
From what I understand, your average tuna sandwich has way more mercury in it than any vaccine you got on your shelf. I've yet to see people with signs claiming sushi bars cause autism.
Also, too, what's the anti-vax crowd's position on Botox? I just found out that it's actually a contraction of "botulinum toxin," so you'd think they'd freak out since it has "toxin" right in its name.
good for them. helmet laws suck. the only good thing about indiana is no helmet law. if you don't have the freedom of your own body, what freedom do you really have? been riding 35 years, and if i die on my bike, at least i died doing something i love. can't ask for more than that.
Worse than the cough is the silence, during which the child is struggling to breathe and is unable to.
The weirdest thing to me about this whole phenomenon is the list of things these people are afraid and/or suspicious of: Big Pharma; corporations in general; the entire medical community; vaccinations; the entire scientific community; journals; studies; the government, and on and on. The only thing they are completely unafraid of? Diseases that have wiped out millions of children.
My doctor was recently broaching the subject of boosters when I was all, "I went to India this year, so I went out and got me a full friggin set. All current, thanks." i.e. global community blahblahblah crazy people ugh.
I think Idiot 0 has to be someone before him. I think we have to look at 1970's.

The thing that gets me about whooping cough is that it lasts for months.
Yeah, but her kids don't.
No snark, looking after one child with whooping-cough would be a hell of worry and sleeplessness. Seven - jeeze.
A little OT, but...

me too. now i understand " youth is wasted on the young."
Specifically gin.Although I could be convinced by a good argument for rye-based alternatives.
It's like people who are suddenly for gay rights when a family member turns out to be gay. Sad that empathy is so fucking lacking these days.

And you *have* to be white to miss the good ol days.
Stick some bootstraps on that cough and yank upward.
Think people. Think. You were vaccinated. You have lived to adulthood. Vaccinated. You. Alive. Well. Get it?
