Pain medication on board. Now I can lighten up. You have been warned.

My idea of frugal fun is charging the EV during off peak hours and going for a drive down the coast.

Absolute chaos in France. Teenagers nationwide are protesting bad conditions in schools, largely driven by Macron's government cutting school budgets. Police are responding by attacking teenagers.

Right-wing parties are claiming that left-wing parties are secretly controlling the protests, and using it as a pretense to call for outlawing left-wing parties.

Recently, the Supreme Court of France struck down a law which would have banned teenagers from almost all of the internet, with narrow exceptions for websites that can't be used to organize protests (like news websites without comment sections, or Netflix). Macron is currently begging the EU Commission to make a similar ban EU-wide. If you had any doubts about why, this is why: politicians do not want teenagers organizing protests.

Happy "He's Trying to Buy My Vote AGAIN?! Day"

“President Trump late Friday night said the administration would send just under $100 to more than 20 million senior citizens to help pay for Medicare benefits,” Axios reports.

“A month before the midterm, the president is adding another roughly $2 billion to a recent spate of promised refunds, rebates and dividends for various Americans.”

•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•---•

"Trump promises $100 checks for 20 million seniors for Medicare"–https://www.axios.com/2026/10/03/trump-medicare-100-seniors-improvement-fund

"In early September he promised $5,000 for every adult citizen if Republicans win the midterm, a promise he reiterated Friday night but one that most voters don't believe.

• He's floated $500 Obamacare rebates for more than 1 million people who were purportedly overcharged for their benefits.

• He also recently suggested a less-specific dividend of some kind for those living near data centers.

• These ideas come on top of rebates he proposed in 2025 that were not ultimately paid, including tariff rebates and DOGE dividends."

$100 isn't even going to cover 1/3 of my monthly Medicare B/D Premium...

SkeptiKC's avatar

This dimple-bottomed bastard seems to believe that flashing a bit of $$$ here and there will "fix" everything.

Jaysus but I despise this timeline.

freakishlystrong's avatar

Has anyone told him how much the monthly Medicare premium IS? He doesn't know, of course, because he gets the best healthcare in the world. Free. On our dime.

Free beach's avatar

Rethugs can’t do math. Facts.

josephebacon's avatar

And THE OZHOLE has said that the Medicare B/D premiums will substantially rise next year...

Tammy Scumbag's avatar

$100? What is that going to pay for, the fuel to get to their appointments?

Austerity for the masses, tax breaks and deals on priceless fossils for the billionaires

The Sternberg national history museum in Kansas is shutting down in December, all the fossils are being sold off to the highest bidder, even the world famous fish in fish fossil.

https://www.ksn.com/news/state-regional/fort-hays-state-confirms-it-will-close-sternberg-museum-blaming-state-cuts/

Thanks donnie!

Eva, Iron Goddess of Mercy's avatar

That is WRONGEDY-WRONG-WRONG-WRONG. I hope a skillionaire steps in and buys them all, gives them back, and re-funds the museum. I know, I know…

Teen Laqueefa's avatar

The news mentioned a cool million to stop the closure and a million a year to keep it open. I can't imagine how it could cost that much to run it.

While I’m quite good at frugal, I’m not sure I’m on target for Frugal Fun Day. Still:

I stumbled across Hiromi. I can watch/ listen to her for free on the You Tubes. Piano. Jazz. Fun. Crazy woman? Virtuosity.

Ooh. I get a zing (or three), every time I watch her. Though I’m not paying an added cent, she’s somehow being compensated and apparently doing fine.

For example:

President Donald Trump posted a GOP Senator's cellphone number in a Truth Social post on Saturday in an effort to make daylight saving time permanent.

Trump posted the number of Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and urged Arkansas residents to call him and pressure the senator to drop his opposition to the Sunshine Protection Act because changing clocks is "very expensive for our Nation."

"Everybody in Arkansas, Tom Cotton, a friend of mine, is holding up a very important Bill," Trump wrote. "For some reason, Tom is stopping the Bill and, in the Senate, it's very easy to do, it only takes one!"

Fuckface has obviously not walked his kids to the bus stop in pre-dawn winter darkness because fuckwits thought permanent DST was a good thing.

MRK's avatar

Sorry, but kids go to school in the dark whichever way we do it. Maybe some communities right on the edge of a time zone get lucky there, but the rest of us don't.

Prometheus59650's avatar

Yep. If you're far enough north (MI or WI, for example) it's dark both ways. You might see a glint of pre-dawn in the am, but not enough to count for anything,

And here I thought Tom Cottonmouth's phone # was 1-800-IMA-NAZI!

OMG, that is cool!

There is a popular trail that goes under a highway overpass here. The cars above, rolling over the joints (or potholes) sound like drumbeats. I have long wanted to hang windchimes under that overpass, to add to the music. I even suggested this to my friend who is a maintenance supervisor for this particular transportation region. She seemed skeptical, tbh. Engineer, what can you do?

Kateorite's avatar

Great idea! Sneak by & hang some chimes. What if other trail walkers added their own sound-makers?! It could become a cool local spot.

Speaking of FAFO...

A gut punch in Ohio: Nearly 1,400 laid off at truck factory just days before Trump rally

"The layoffs — occurring just three days before President Donald Trump's rally on Saturday at a nearby high school — were large enough to basically erase an entire year of job growth in the greater Dayton, Ohio, area. And they are one reason why Bos, 30, plans to spend the final weeks before the November election canvassing votes for Democrats.

Asked how many times he had voted for Trump, Bos held up three tattooed fingers. But he said he’s done with the president.

"Something has to change politically in this country," said Bos, a member of the United Auto Workers who identifies as a centrist. "Seems like it just kept getting worse and worse and worse."

Trump is campaigning in this area on Saturday..."

I feel sympathy for anyone hurting economically right now. Because I am a decent person. But if Bos came to my door with that story I would still give him my stank face.

Wokey McWokeface's avatar

If they only hurt themselves I might have some sympathy.

Tammy Scumbag's avatar

I don’t like the *hint hint wink wink* around “tattooed fingers,” but just the same, what did you expect, you idiot? You wanted the “Others” to get hurt without any blowback, but you caught it right in the ass, didn’t you?

Oh dear, bobble throated traitor Tom Cotton has run afoul of the Great Man™ in opposing permanent DST. The only thing in which Tom Cotton and I agree. They tried this before, the sun doesn't come up until around a.m. in the winter. If anything, permanent standard time please. I guess he's tantruming and twatting and has given out Cotton's personal number for his "fans" to call him and express their displeasure,
