Little place called Magnetawan, in 'near-north' Ontario. Generally you've either never heard of it or you've been there. There's no third thing.

β€œNo heterosexual brother of the Fraternity shall masturbate more than one time in any calendar month,” the new rule reads.

Apparently, if I lose my mind and go fascist, *I* can still engage in the sin of Onan as much as I please. So I guess that's something to look forward to.

I've been near the upper peninsula because I have a bunch of god botherers that live near there. Of course, you are far beyond there. Beautiful country.

Wow really!!!???? that can only mean that the chinese have bought their way onto the island and they are going to take over tourism, for better or for worse. To be honest, based on the way I've seen the chinese manage tourist operations, it could be for the better, as far as Trinidad is concerned.

I gave a little bit yesterday and to the orgs I mostly know people at - scrappy Mission Gardens in Tucson; USMWF - a national worker safety advocacy and family support group; Human Rights Watch, where my long-time friend Megan McLemore does such amazing work for folx with HIV; Mike Kamber and the Bronx Documentary Center - a community/national treasure if their ever was one; the folx fighting domestic violence in LA at Good Shepherd Shelter (big kudos to past director Sister Ann); and with thanks to everybody, SPLC and Color of Change.

And, of course, I give monthly to this radical mommy blog so we all can continue to read it!

Find a local program that serves homeless teens with food, a place to take a shower and do homework, apply for jobs, etc., and donate it to them so the kids can spend a little while pretending they are just kids and life is normal and forgetting that the building will close at five pm and they need to go find a car/bridge/cardboard box to sleep in/under/in.

dang it, you would ask, and I am under a self-obligation to make a donation each time I tell someone about this organization. Do you think I am made of the moneys?

They build low-tech, sustainable water catchment systems in East Africa, and a lot of other good water-related work. Been at it for many years, and 100% of donations go to the work they do. They require community buy-in and involvement in the work, and then ask each village helped to turn around and help nearby villages achieve the same thing. So instead of little kids and women walking (sometimes miles and miles) each day to provide their family with sufficient (and often contaminated) groundwater that they carry home, the kids can--and do--go to school. And do better, because they are not as sick. Also, they frequently do not die due to water-borne illnesses. Also, they have amazing matching-funds things going on a lot, so if you can pony up $15 or so, you can save lives. Which still sorta tears me up a bit. Easy-peasy.

And also, if you are broke and still want to help, here's the deal: if you read about it and come back here and upvote this post, for each upvote I'll throw another $1 in the kitty when I make my contribution. And then someday if you have money and want to give it away, you'll know about this place. Or tell someone else. And it will all be good.https://www.savetherain.org/

Trinidad has little tourism because of the oil based economy. Our beaches aren’t very pretty in many places because of the offshore drilling. Many Trinis go to Tobago for the beaches. Most of our tourism is for Carnival or other events.
