I'm a country girl, but I gotta say that NYC is one of the coolest places in the world, in large part because it's an international city. After living in the middle east for almost 6 years, I still remember getting on a bus home to Rochester (after landing at JFK and there were young people passing out Christmas candy and a young man carried my suitcases for me), and the bus driver saying to all of us, "Welcome to New York City!" I've been there several times, and it's the greatest city on earth. Congratulations, Democratic New Yorkers.
Proud to say that my grands were among those foreign-born immigrants. Second gen here, yo.
The pants pissers seemingly ignore the fact that Mamdani is a child of privilege. His mother is an acclaimed motion picture director (Mira Nair) and his father is a professor at Columbia.
While there are aspects of his background and some things that he's said that give me pause, I'd rather him than a notorious sex pest (Cuomo) or someone who's so notoriously corrupt that he should have a statue of him someplace in the Gowanus canal (Adams) or a superannuated crime fighter whose best days are 50 years behind him (Sliwa).

I have never heard Islamic prayer calls throughout the streets, garbage isn't "piled everywhere" (it's actually pretty damn clean for a city with so many people crammed into a relatively small area), I've never seen a rumble between Muslims and Jews and Christians, and NOT ONCE have I been raped in the two dozen or so times I've been there. Eric Adams, who reportedly ran straight to the 1% to see if they'll but him another term, failed completely to get the message.
