This was expected from the MAGATs. What really pisses me off is the wailing from the Democratic establishment and beltway consultants. Fuck them. We just got our asses whipped by a felon by listening to them. No more moderating progressive positions to appeal to the mythical "independent/undecided voter" watching FoxNews all day in an Ohio diner. Appeal to the young and to the base.
I'm a country girl, but I gotta say that NYC is one of the coolest places in the world, in large part because it's an international city. After living in the middle east for almost 6 years, I still remember getting on a bus home to Rochester (after landing at JFK and there were young people passing out Christmas candy and a young man carried my suitcases for me), and the bus driver saying to all of us, "Welcome to New York City!" I've been there several times, and it's the greatest city on earth. Congratulations, Democratic New Yorkers.
Proud to say that my grands were among those foreign-born immigrants. Second gen here, yo.
The pants pissers seemingly ignore the fact that Mamdani is a child of privilege. His mother is an acclaimed motion picture director (Mira Nair) and his father is a professor at Columbia.
While there are aspects of his background and some things that he's said that give me pause, I'd rather him than a notorious sex pest (Cuomo) or someone who's so notoriously corrupt that he should have a statue of him someplace in the Gowanus canal (Adams) or a superannuated crime fighter whose best days are 50 years behind him (Sliwa).
C'mon New York. You can do this.
PS. If the buses are going to be free, I want one. Still need to figure out where to park it. Alternate side is a bitch.
"New York has always been full of foreign-born immigrants. Always. Matt Walsh just can’t see that because in the olden timey days they all had white skin. Or he somehow thinks that was different, because he’s a mentally inferior white racist."
Back in the day they were dinged for being Catholic, not a-speaka da English, being huddled in masses. The criteria shift but the primary narcissism lingers on.
Re Locke's comment about how NYC will be the next London—has he ever BEEN to London? London is a wonderful city and I love when Chris and I decide to go into the city for the day. I have never heard Islamic prayer calls throughout the streets, garbage isn't "piled everywhere" (it's actually pretty damn clean for a city with so many people crammed into a relatively small area), I've never seen a rumble between Muslims and Jews and Christians, and NOT ONCE have I been raped in the two dozen or so times I've been there. It's almost like that Christofascist asshole doesn't know what he's talking about!
Somehow it was appropriate that the story of Mamdani's win ran alongside pictures of the obscene spectacle in Venice of multi-billionaires seeing how ostentatiously they could waste tens of millions of dollars on self-indulgence. Eric Adams, who reportedly ran straight to the 1% to see if they'll but him another term, failed completely to get the message.
Charlie Kirk asked, "what Muslem country would you like to live in?" I don;t know Dearborn MI seems pretty nice, clean. vibrant, you can get Halal Chinese, what more could you ask for?
I lived in Amman, Jordan, and Alexandria and Cairo in Egypt. And I survived. What would happen if such blatant bigotry were expressed against, say, Jews?
Anytime anyone brings up 9/11/2001 because a Muslim man won the Democratic primary in NYC, it's probably worth mentioning that Trump has been taking bribes from the Saudis. You know, the nation that sent most of the hijackers.
What Muslim country would I like to live in, Charlie Kirk? That's an easy question! Bahrain, of course! Although any of the Emirates would be okay too. Egypt wouldn't be too bad either, I think. And if we get out of the Middle East, Indonesia might be interesting -- it has orangutans, I hear. Sheesh, there are many good options.
Fair enough. Bahrain was also hot. Those who could afford it would leave for two months during the summer. It was quieter those two months without all the rich people and far fewer Saudi and Kuwaiti tourists about.

Ta, Evan. Mayor Mamdani is already making heads explode, and this little old Jewish lady from the Lower East Side is HERE for it.
The reports of our death are greatly exaggerated.
Also, it is not just the Republicans who are freaked out by Zohran Mamdani. Centrist Democrats are shaking with dismay as well: https://www.thecity.nyc/2025/06/26/new-york-congressional-democrats-zohran-mamdani/
I fucking hate Islamophobes and morons who yell "communist."
Me too, my dear, I find them exhausting and willfully ignorant.
NYC does not give a fuck what kind of bad day these idiots are having. You gotta be a kitty in the city if you want to survive NYC.

Yeah, but those guys don't count because they're filthy rich.
huh
Weird that the Religious FREEDOMS!!! crowd is 100% against this guy because of his religion.
innit
I'm warping back to the 00s when right-wing Bible-humpers insisted that Islam is a political ideology and not a religion.
These are also the morons who'd insist that Christianity isn't a religion, but a "philosophy."
“Did Zohran Mamdani also beat you at swimming”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*wheeze**snort**laughing so hard there’s no sound**inhale**donkey bray**side stitch**doubles up* BWAHAHAHAHAHA OMG *laughs until dead*

I lived in Egypt for almost 6 years. If you have money, you'd be quite comfortable.
I believe it. I loved in Bahrain for 3 years, which is why I Put it first on my list. I still miss it sometimes.
I do not miss Egypt at all. Hot, and very dirty.
