I worked a contract in Cedar Rapids, Iowa... about as "heartland" as you can find. Even lived there for several months, til I started commuting from Iowa City. You wouldn't know it, but it's got the oldest Muslim community in the United States, but.. like any "ethnic" community anywhere in the US, after a couple generations, nobody really notices. OK, some people go to religious services on Friday, and buy their meat from the halal butcher, but other than that... Hell, even one of the bartenders at the one and only gay bar in town was Muslim.
I'm white, 49, moved around a lot when I was a kid. Hands down the people who have done the worst things to me have all been white and often obnoxiously christian. My abusers and bullies growing up were all white. When I have to deal with sexist women or men, always white. Meanwhile I have yet to meet an anti-gay muslim. They exist, but they are as quiet as the other religious homophobes.
If you're a muslim, why would you come to America to hate anyone, especially the people who are already here, whom you have no power or leverage over? I get why racist white people come here to be bigots, but I haven't observed a lot of bigoted immigrants. Somehow most of them seem to get that they are on the same level as LGBTQs and other minorities, there's typically more solidarity and support.

On Facebook, as well as probably everywhere else, if you look at any of the profiles of people who post particularly nasty pro-Trump comments, they're almost invariably "Christian."
I had forgotten that Lang had said last year that he was going to run for the Republican nomination in Florida to fill out Rubio's Senate term - supposedly he raised about $5000 for his "campaign", but he never filled out the paperwork necessary for the Florida Secretary of State to register his candidacy ( he did not appear on the ballot, and the nom went to Ashley Moody, whose corruption in the office of AG should be a big topic during the next couple of months )
Lang hides behind "free speech" - but his arrest record says that he tries to do more than speak. I hope the next time he's arrested, the judge refuses to set bail, and he stays incarcerated until trial.
Good question. I didn't find anything on that, but considering he didn't register to actually run, it would not have been considered "campaign funds" - and he probably pocketed it.
