I don't understand why someone in D leadership doesn't organize greater publicity or direct action. Most of the country, sometimes by big margins, support D policies like gun control and infrastructure spending. As it is, nobody in red states even knows that their representatives are voting this stuff down because their news source is focused on the scandal of VP Harris wishing everyone a happy Memorial Day. It seems like there are ways to attract public attention outside of elections, through creative and effective advertising, or public demonstrations that call attention to the issues. Party leaders mumbling at their lecterns isn't cutting it. The next year and a half really could be September Song time.

Sometimes Luke just has to use the Force to help him blow up the Death Star. Just this time, maybe don't wait for it to take out Alderaan (voting rights for all) first.

"If Democrats also break rules and cheat, this would mean both sides are torpedoing democracy. This would make it true that "both sides are the same.""-You know what Teri, I'll bite. I'll even agree with you, that if everyone breaks the rules and cheats, that would mean both sides are torpedoing democracy. But I totally disagree with your conclusion which states that both side are the same. When the Republicans are torpedoing democracy, they are going to to replace it with a glorified monarchy complete with glorified Nobles and oppressed Subjects who used to be Citizens. When the Democrats are torpedoing democracy, they are going to replace the old, broken, democracy with a new, more inclusive democracy where everyone has a voice and have a good quality of life. The exception will be made for those who are toxic enough to destroy that new democracy and replace it with that toxic monarchy which will oppress everyone.

I am not a big fan of Mark Zuckerman, but I'd like to see him go all Dominion Voting Machines on TFG for this one.

Democrats need to come to the realization that Republicans are just not that into them.

'bipartisan' is a stick to beat Dems over the head, not an ideal to stand up for

Agreed. 100%. This administration is hugely important, but we can’t undo all the damage done by Trump’s 4 years of fuckery. We have all three chambers, but barely, and it so easily could have been 48-52 GOP, if Trump and Lin Wood and the other wingnut loons had simply stayed out of GA. They both actually, literally told their own voters NOT TO VOTE, because until the election rules were twisted to their satisfaction, it just wasn’t worth it. That, along with the attacks on GA officials, probably cost them the senate. But by winning those 2 seats, we probably stopped some of the smelliest garbage the gop would have tried to pass, if it wasn’t subject to veto. But with Manchin and Sinema around, we can stop much of the bleeding, but we can’t save democracy and preserve voting rights unless we have another blue wave in 22.

SER is of course talking about elected Democrats in positions of power where becoming a motherfucker will accomplish things, and he's absolutely right.

But SOME of us have been motherfuckers for going on 50 years now and received nothing from elected "Democrats" but admonitions, recriminations, and orders to "shut up and behave."

That Manchin has an order of magnitude more power than AOC is a crime, and proof that while repugs may be actual traitors and criminals, most elected Dems are guilty of cowardice and felony malfeasance.

Huh? When did anyone claim that Bill Cosby was an authority on the American Revolution? In the passage I cited, he was an authority on how the underdog wins by coopting the rules of the game - something that, unfortunately, he was all too knowledgeable about, as it turned out.

The Cons are pretty sure the MSM OWES them a president's head on an impeachment platter. Never mind that over the last few decades Democratic president's have shown themselves to be less prone to corruption and playing it fast and loose with the law, if the press had a role in taking down a GOP president it MUST take down a Democratic party president also, that's just wingnut science!

I wonder if Manchin and Sinema's delicate sensibilities would extend to appointing more Democratic judges. Or maybe that would also be beyond the pale and Just Not Done.

This. One reason Republicans have gotten so far is that they know how to market the shitty product they're selling. They're also shameless about taking credit for passing popular bills, even after they opposed them. By contrast, Democrats are mediocre at messaging and repelled by bragging and boasting, even when they've earned the right.

Storming the Capitol is Just Not Done either, but it's okay because they were tourists, not terrorists.
