Let us pour one out for James Brady, former press secretary for Ronald Reagan and longtime gun-control advocate, who died today at the age of 73. Brady was Reagan’s press secretary for the first two months of the Great Communicator’s presidency. He was shot in the head by John Hinckley Jr. on March 30, 1981, when Hinckley failed to either kill Reagan or win the heart of Jodie Foster, who only loves winners. Brady was permanently disabled, spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Though he could no longer work as press secretary, he still held the title for the duration of Reagan’s presidency while others stood in as deputy or acting press secretary. Which, when you think about it, was kind of what happened with Reagan himself.
Unpossible. Jeebus will spend 5 minutes trying to 'talk' with Wayne LaPierre, and then call Callyson and say: "What is that phrase you're always using? Yeah, that."
If only there had been a <a href="http:\/\/ct.politicomments.com\/ol\/pc\/sw\/i58\/2\/1\/14\/pc_8001b85bdc9af2fff38e3f119e3ba706.jpg" target="_blank">good guy with a gun</a> that day....
&quot; And if anyone thinks those crimes could have been prevented if the victims themselves had been carrying guns, I&#039;d only remind you that the President of the United States was shot last night while surrounded by the best trained armed guards in the history of the world. Back to the briefing.&quot; - <em>The West Wing</em>
James Brady lived almost thirty-five years after being shot. During that time about 1.1 million people were killed by guns in America. That&#039;s about 31,000 each year. Of those 31,000 each year, about 500 are &quot;justifiable&quot;, i.e. self-defense. The other 30,500 people each year are collateral damage.
He spent decades trying to get us off the gun habit, only to see all his works undone by a mendacious bunch of opportunists who couldn&#039;t walk away from all that sweet, sweet cash. He deserved better than what he got from the people in his own party.
mr brady, you left a hell of a legacy and served your country well. we need more americans like you.

This all could have been prevented if James Brady and Jodie Foster had been armed.
Brady and Giffords turned against hand gun rights after being shot in the head. How selfish!
I had forgotten about Brady. Shame on me. A cop here in Minnesota was just killed last week by a felon with a violent history. It&#039;s still too easy to get a gun. <a href="http://www.startribune.com/..." target="_blank">" rel="nofollow noopener" title="http://www.startribune.com/local/south/269697611....">http://www.startribune.com/...
