I’d guess they are negotiating a trade, and NYTimes and (cough) Politico are shit-stirring, ‘cause the usual ’Dems in Disarray’ won’t write itself.
The DoJ *should* have far more tools to investigate than the congressional committee has at it's disposal. Congress isn't supposed to do the DoJ's work for them.
But beyond that, one of the big question marks remaining for the American people is the conduct/failure of the various institutions within the DoJ itself. The entire apparatus left congress alone and unprepared - protected by a handful of scrappy beat cops and a tiny handful of secret service members - to face an openly-telegraphed insurrection.
That just doesn't happen unless the DoJ lets it happen. Look how federal forces rolled out for BLM ... or any climate protest ... or an anti-war one. What? They just forgot for an afternoon?
And now the institution - that hasn't undergone any visible reforms since Garland took over - wants access to every shred of the committee's work product without caveat? Yeah. That's not sus at all.
The most likely outcome if any of the kajillion right-wingers at the DoJ get their hands on the entire portfolio congress has prepared to use in hearings (and to pressure the DoJ)? A bunch of highly selective leaks start flowing to Sean Hannity who liberally deploys them across right-wing media to attack the committee's work. That's how the DoJ usually rolls.
Once that horse is out of the barn, there is no getting control of the narrative back. I'm definitely glad the committee is instinctively holding back.
Honestly, congress accessing the intimate investigative details of the criminal work seems kind of weird too. The way it should theoretically function is congress examines all information relevant to public policy and then refers anything potentially criminal that arises to the DoJ who can then employ a different set of tools to pursue the matter ... and who is also *supposed* already to be all over any criminal bits naturally exposed by high-profile news reporting based on the standing mandate to investigate apparent crimes and political corruption.
I saw a picture of him standing somewhere. He was just standing there nice and tidy. A wave of rage came over me!!! Silly right? I'm going to expire of rage, when I've just recovered from my back problems!
His California trashing was getting more Fox News by the day.
Some good speculation there. I don't know what to think, except for god's sake, don't let the bastards get away with everything!.
And, of course, Hunter Biden's laptop, because NOTHING is more important than that!
Liz Cheney would beat the living shit out of Marrick Garland, even if she were gagged & hog tied
That’s how much a lame, ineffective POS Merrick is
Maybe he could ask Joe Manchin for some courage
Sadly, nothing is going to become of 1/6 investigation, either from Congress, or the DoJ
Or maybe Chickenshit Merrick wants all that to hide under the blanket of Grand Jury "secrecy"?
This is a giant middle finger to Putin and I'm all in.
I think that movie is called T-rump of the Will. fully ignorant?

Everything about this feels strange.

If Garland is getting his courage from the same place as Manchin, America is toast.
Oh, I really want to know who Old FiveHead is.
Those supreme court yokels?
