Hell, I've had to do it. I used to be freaked out by trans people. Then I realized I was plainly being stupid and judgemental and it has literally no effect on my life, and that people deserve to be happy with their gender, even if they have to change it to get that way. And even THAT was easier to understand than why some people spend their entire lives without questioning a single one of their beliefs.

I remember when I finally understood sexual orientation and/or gender identity isn't a matter of choice. It was because someone asked me, gently, when I first decided to be attracted to males.

Looking back I have no idea why something so simple was such a revelation to me.

Yes, because our relationship with IRAN IN 2011 was exactly like USA/Mexico relations in 2016.

Virtually identical, really, I don't understand how I was ever confused now that you've put it like that.

Exactly the feeling I had. That's why I sometimes try to engage a few trolls and more of the Berniebros. Maybe one of them, someday, will have their "aha" moment. Maybe it'll be just that simple! Then again, only the really whackadoo members of those communities ever post here.

The definition of "bigot" is, "One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ." I live in Arizona and I can tell you Jan Brewer is a bigot. She not only treats non-white people and LGBTQ people differently from straight white citizens, she supports policies that would make her bigotry into state law. I've seen it with my own eyes. She also manipulated state policy when she became governor to try and hide the fact she is the mother of someone who has been in a hospital for the criminally insane for decades. I have seen her drunk in public on more than one occasion. I have also seen her be rude to the President of the United States several times. A person with that demeanor should not be a public servant. And anyone she supports for higher office is not someone I would ever vote for. That said, she was still better than the governor we have now.

What is more racist than codifying attitudes that one race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation is entitled to things people of other races, ethnicities, or sexual orientations are not entitled to? Your pal Jan did that. REPEATEDLY. While holding the office of Governor of Arizona. That is racist. That is bigoted. That is un-American.

Oh, he's a racist all right, and all your efforts to paper it over are futile.
