I confess it has been a few years (decades? a half century?) since I have been in Sesame Street's target audience. So I missed the Billy Porter episode. Absolutely fabulous, even on a kids show. *swoon*
Nonetheless, Hebrew scholars say that's what the word used in the original means. And maybe they DID care. After all, the Stone Age 'savages' of North America believed the same thing.
Personally, I don't like drag queens because they remind me too much of clowns. Probably the over-the-top makeup, costumes, and mannerisms. I also associate them (and clowns) with the greatest horror of all: audience participation. That being said, I have no problem at all with people who enjoy drag shows or take their kids to drag story hour. I also have no worries of drag queens or antifa taking over or destroying society. I would vote for drag queens over Republicans any day.
Sorry for being late getting to this. We use a word filter to identify trolls, who frequently use slurs to insult people. It's clear that's not how you're using the word here. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier.
That said, this is a trans-friendly website, and we really don't welcome this kind of loaded "just asking questions" rhetoric suggesting that transgender people don't really exist, or aren't legitimate.
You can find plenty of resources on what the word means, who's in the trans community, and so on.
Please review the rules.

Oh fuck! You just gave the right something else to freak out about.
Couldn't you just get her, you know, her own pillow?
Could anyone come up with anything more un-American? That needs to be thrown back in their faces.
I feel like Rapert has very little leeway in making fun of someone else's name
Can you think of a more fabulous way to go?
A cock in a frock on a rock.

Thank you.
I love this show.
I’d pay to see that.
