I remember that song from the 60's, when I was researching if organized religion was for me.(I was a curious 8 year old) and I thought it was a beautiful song.I compare it to what I see going in the so-called religious right, and I wonder when the message became one of hate.
That is why they had to include it (the OT) in the bible,The god of vegence was too popular with the masses of the time they were putting it together. Well, that and to give it some authenticity, by stealing it from an older established religion.
