If he hadn't spent OPM on all that shit, he wouldn't be heading to jail. I have sympathy for him too. I hope he gets appropriate treatment. But, when mental illness leads to seriously bad behavior, the behavior has to be constrained. We don't have any fucking mental hospitals anymore, so jail. He'll probably be out in two years.

Are you sure you're trying? Because I can picture myself in a mink cashmere cape, and I'm an old white straight. (Note: I cannot picture myself buying such an item, but hey).

That gives me confuze also, too, since "cashmere" is a type of wool. So, maybe a Leviticus-defying blend?

If your mental disorder causes you to commit crimes (and there seems to be no doubt here about the crimes), then there are two possible ways to go.

1. "Treat" the criminal behavior with penalties, possibly including jail/prison time.

2. Treat the mental disorder by compulsory detention and treatment.

In case (1), it is to be hoped that there will also be some therapy. But even if not, at least the subject will be removed from society for some time. Please remember that the mentally-disordered subject is not the only entity involved in this transaction.. The entirety of society is affected by the subject's misbehavior.

Case (2) would be my personal preference, but over the last thirty years the availability of suitable treatment facilities has evaporated. Note also that even if such a facility were available, the detention period is indeterminate; that is, it could be up to life imprisonment. You get out when the staff decides you're better.

So, J3 is getting, pretty inevitably, Case (1). It's pretty inevitable because it's really all that is available these days. I hope he gets help. But I am okay with the idea that he has suffered political damage. I am (God help me) a Democrat, and I favor the neutralization of mentally-disturbed Democratic politicians.

You can buy a fucking Cray for 200 large? If I only had a compute-intensive obsession (and a spare $200K).

Haha. At the very end of that pile of hooey, we learn that the author was COD's press secretary for one month in mid 2010.

He must have gotten trapped in the underbrush.
