I'm not Jewish, or particularly religious, but about 40% of my schoolmates were Jewish and I just love interesting words. Learning bits and pieces of Yiddish is right up my road, as a result. What's really fun is when I use a word so firmly ingrained in my vocabulary that I forget it's actually Yiddish and thus comprehension of said word is not as widespread as my brain wants to believe it is (e.g., shpritz, schlep, chutzpah, shtick, tchotchke, bupkes, kvell, plotz, kibitz, mensch, verklempt, shanda, schlemiel, schlimazel, schmutz, momzer, farkakta, meshugga, nosh, fress...I just love these words).
