That's a fucking beauty, 'Tini. I get to see them out of my kitchen window regularly, in the bank of lilac bushes. LOVE. Thank you.❤️

The North Carolina state flag should just be a picture of a cardinal in the snow.

Tyler Cowan is a hack. I wouldn't trust his opinion on where to eat, let aline politics and economics.

Dang, you can tell I live near Chicago: I read "beefs" and was expecting a list of great Italian sandwiches. Disappoint. 😁

We has some picturesque snow, but by coincidence the concrete guys came today to retrieve their tarps and burlap that they had used to cover the brand new sidewalk, so my walkway is clear without any shoveling.

'Trix, you should have called out Tyler Cowen more, that fake-assed lying asshole.

Thing is, Tyler Cowen is 62. That happens to be exactly my age. I remember well where and who I was in 1976. I was a freshman in high school. I doubt Cowen had any edge on me when it comes to smarts or precocity, and in my school, a course on news and current events was MANDATORY for all freshmen. It was the first class of my day, every day. I was also taking German, a class presided over by one Wolfgang Dieter Hamisch during the sabbatical of the regular teacher. He was the school's photography teacher and his sole qualification for teaching German was that he was a native German speaker who's family bribed their way out of the East Zone with a carefully hoarded stash of brandy after the war. He didn't teach us much German, but we did debate politics quite a bit. He was a Carter fanboy.

So yeah, I don't think it's even POSSIBLE that Cowen could have had a better read or more fully formed opinion of Carter than I did at our shared age of fourteen.

TBF, I wasn't that impressed with him either, at that time. In the wake of Watergate, all the media wanted to talk about was character, and of course Ford wanted to avoid any subject that might bring up The Pardon.

And I sure as fuck didn't give a shit about Amy Carter. Putting up with the media's Billy obsession was already more than I wanted to tolerate. I actively avoided any coverage of Carter's family I could because it was such obvious and annoying media horseshit. I could not tune it all out, because AGAIN, I might be required to actually discuss it in class, TWICE. Unlike most fourteen year olds.

What Cowen is pretending to have known about and believed about Carter back in the day is fake as fuck. Maybe he can fool his dumbass readers, but he can't fool me.

Talk about my own watchword, DEFIANCE!

This is very nice, indeed. Numerous editorial cartoonists, given a free pass by Ann Telnaes to use her infamous spiked cartoon, offer their own takes:

Re: Jezebel's reporting of Katy Perry beef.

"And if the lyrics, “She’s a sister, she’s a mother / Open your eyes, just look around and you’ll discover,” weren’t bad enough..."

I read and sang that song in my head to the tune of "I'm a Bitch" by Meredith Brooks.

Republicans will always have the advantage because they are willing to act like howler monkeys on acid and the democrats will always be adults and follow decorum. No one with D next to their name in congress is going to throw the whole government into choas by rejecting Trump. Or was that sarcasm. It's so hard to tell these days.

News talkers saying $10 trillion giveaway to rich shits won't work! Numbers won't work!

Ex-budgeteer here. Pretending you'll nickel and dime programs you're really afraid to touch? A simple, honest expression of today's Republican party will do it. Eliminate Medicaid (and CHIP just for fun). Kill the poor. Genuflect to the rich. Can we just get back to our office party now?

Regarding Amy Carter at public school - my bf grew up in DC and had a mischievous buddy (E) who went to school with Amy. E and Amy would conspire together before gym class and at some point E would TACKLE Amy and the secret service would come rushing in and E and Amy would laugh and laugh... Of course SS came to expect it but they still had to act. I had a mild obsession with Amy in the 70s (she was my age and she liked cats!).

Since last night I've had sort of weird midriff not-quiet-pain, but discomfort? Kind of crampy? Hoping someone will just tell me that it's fine because I don't have insurance until the end of the month, and also I dread bad news (like a normal person).

Hopefully it will resolve itself shortly all on its own.

One time we got as far as an ultrasound just to be told by our cheeky nurse practitioner that my husband was “full of shit, literally.” And the solution was an over the counter pill we could have bought if only we knew that was the issue. :P

Good luck. Drinking more water and eating more soluble fiber can’t hurt.
