Just fuckin win for OHJB

Well,, how can we keep him from being sad? Maybe there's a way. If we just write him letters? I'd like to write him how proud he made me, demonstrating to the world how a great father behaves.

I still read the WaPo. I love the fact that some white males in Congress are killing themselves making excuses why Kamala should NOT be the alternative if Joe steps down. "Well uh, her voice is annoying, I hate her laugh, she's inexperienced." Compared to who?

These guys give not a fart that passing over Kamala would offend Blacks and women, it hasn't even occurred to them. It's hugely clueless, they might as well say "Who cares what they think?" What HAS occurred to them is " a Black woman? No fucking way!"

Not to mention that she is the ONLY candidate who can access the Biden/Harris fundraising. Anyone else is starting from scratch.

“Did you rewatch the debate?”

“I don’t think so.”

Is me being concerned about this and the rest of that interview make me a bed-wetting ageist troll? Because I am genuinely concerned for President Biden’s welfare.

Rebecca Solnit in the Guardian on 7/6. An excellent counterpoint to endemic foolery, fuckery and bedwetting.

There are quite a few here in Pattaya. Come on over.

Leeeaave Joe Biden alooooooone !

Even if Biden is beginning to fail mentally (and I've seen no real evidence for that), we need to elect him. If he has to quit at some point during his term, we get Harris instead. That's why we have VPs.

Let's think about this--no panic needed.

President Biden was always an infinitely better choice than trump. He has proved that during his first term, being both more progressive and more effective than I had dared hope. He's gotten a lot done despite having a corrupt, dysfunctional, and mostly crazed Congress.

Set against his productive first term is one bad debate night. The evidence seems pretty clear and hugely one-sided. He is an excellent choice for 2024.

To me voting for Biden is a no-brainer. Sadly, too many voters either haven't much brain or choose to go with their emotions instead. Dems have a tendency to circle the wagons and fire inwards. Let's not do that this time.

WaPo and NYT both saw a huge expansion in subscriptions overall readership when Trump was in the White House and it’s dropped off since Biden got into office. They are desperate, DESPERATE to get Trump back. Take anything they say with a huge grain of salt.

Expand full comment

Haha, they won't like it when their stories have to be held from publication for hours until the government press patriotism board has a chance to approve it. What? Whoops, my bad, they would not care.

Expand full comment

What will they do when Trump shuts them down?

Expand full comment

Biden quits, PAB wins. Doesn't matter who the Democrats would replace OHJB with.

Americans will NEVER vote for quitters and the Democrats - not just OHJB but ALL THE DEMOCRATS - will be lumped in as quitters.

Biden quits, race OVER.

The week-long demonstration that the Democratic Party has no sense of loyalty, discipline, or organization has done far more damage than the debate could ever have done.

everyone just fucking step back.

those of us who are worried have a right to be.

those of us who are righteous biden warriors have a right to be.

jesus christ people.

"Stepping back" would mean stopping this stupid argument.

Not to mention that the fight for the Dem nomination would be extremely ugly and way to close to the election date.

Expand full comment

Yep. Dropping Biden would be a colossal fuck up. Not only do you risk losing party loyalists, but it sends the message that "We've been supporting this guy for five years, but now we want you to support this other person instead." It stinks of desperation, indecision, failure, and a breakdown of party unity.

Trump is a convicted felon, for chrissakes, and the only effect it had on the GOP was to circle around him. Dems need to learn how to stop listening to bad faith actors and stick together, but what else is new?

And if we still have a government in 5 years, investigations will (too late to make any difference) show how much Russian agitprop is stirring the pot again.

You know it. I've been telling them that their comments were more poetic in the original Russian.

Just look on the slightly mainstream liberal rag, Huff Post. It's filthy with Russian bots.

Expand full comment

They've been nasty as cat shit about poor Uncle Joe since the night of the debate. Fuck them .☠️👹

Expand full comment

That's harsh. I expect a lot of them are just local Repubs. They are every bit as filthy.

BTW, Dems, let's stop repeating Repub talking points. Repubs win because they focus on winning, not on perfection; their guy is infinitely far from perfect, but he's their guy.

Biden is our guy.

Still ridin' with OHJB

yup.

All the way with OHJB!!! Go get him Champ!! Knock that fat orange POS out, then pick him up and knock him out again. Just for good measure.

He ought to use that handy presidential immunity to lock that criminal up. Problem solved.

Here’s a harsh Truth.

If Dems are not united behind Joe Biden right now what makes you think they’re going to be united behind Kamala Harris or some other mystery candidate?

Expand full comment

The media is going to find some “fatal flaw” no matter who the Dem candidate is and Democrats are going run away from them too.

Democrats have been trained to behave this way. It needs to stop.

Expand full comment

Let's be honest here: the media doesn't need to find a "fatal flaw" to sink Harris, because the fact that HRC is a woman was a liability for her campaign. Remember "shrill?"

The pro-fash call Harris "the ho."

This is a great read.

But I’m not gonna rant. [breathes deeply] Just gonna make my one point, which is this: the idea that that the process of jettisoning Biden & choosing someone else will go well — will be *allowed* to go well — is a deeply deranged fantasy.

The idea that Dems will do this & will end up feeling unified, that Harris will come out popular, that “the dynamics of the race will shift,” all of that … fucking deranged. Deranged in such a perfectly characteristic Dem way.

“This person/policy/slogan/approach has been irredeemably slimed by Republicans & a hostile media — let’s throw it overboard!” That’s the Dem way. Always with this starry-eyed hope that they can reset, start over, get it right this time.

This is what I've been screaming all goddamn week. There is no way that any effort to replace Biden doesn't turn into a factional free-for-all between blue dogs, centrists, progressives, Gaza partisans on both sides, feminists, misogynosts, Biden bitter-enders, Harris champions, third-way types of every variety, and all-around utility ratfuckers, all of it on national TV and dominating the news until September. Even if we can eventually settle on a single alternate candidate (not guaranteed) the vicious fight prior to that will alienate millions or tens of millions of our base voters. Not only would there not be enough time to mend fences before the election, there's no guarantee that we'd even be able to repair the damage before the NEXT election, assuming it even happens.

And the notion that Harris can just sail for an easy swap-out is equally idiotic. She is gonna have determined opposition from fucking EVERYBODY with an axe to grind, because this is just too good an opportunity to press an agenda.

Expand full comment

Yes indeed. Why not just concede the election to the MAGA Party early

Expand full comment

Just as one example — other people have aggregated these — there have been “calls” for every Dem nominee of the last 30 years to step aside. Dems practically delight in abandoning their own people, policies, & principles in response to bad-faith pressure. They f’ing love it.

But, as I’ve been saying for, oh, 20 years now, the situation is structural. The current situation is an outcome of a particular incentive structure & that structure will remain exactly the same if Harris takes over the ticket.
