Why do we even want our health insurance tied to our employment? The health care that we and our families receive should be private and of no concern to our employers. We need a federal health system that provides free medical/mental health care for everyone in the United States. We are the only Western nation, and one of the very few nations, not to do this.
We need to remember it is THE PEOPLE he has empowered in his Administration who are diving down into the weeds to root out this shit. This is why it doesn't matter if Biden is old ballz...he has a TEAM and they are executing his plays. It's like the coach has given his game plan and they are executing it. I just got a letter from my Medicare supplemental carrier encouraging me to look into their mental health offerings. I have no reason to doubt their sincerity, as they've covered every dime of every claim I've submitted to date.

I suspect that, in addition to the usual reasons, insurance companies don’t want to cover anxiety and/or depression because the numbers are staggering. Something like 1/3 of the American public over time. That’s a lot of coverage to pay out.
I think it’s great that Biden wants a “moon shot” to cure cancer in our lifetimes (your mileage may vary), but how about a Manhattan Project for anxiety/depression? Besides relief for those suffering, it would do amazing things to allow people to work and function in the economy again (or for the first time).
It might cut into the amount of beer and Twinkies sold and reduce a lot of daytime TV viewing, but sacrifices must be made in order to effect change.

Someone at work transferred a call to me about a typo in the customer's business name. The guy who got the call didn't have the access to make the change. I get his ID number, pull up the title, check the scanned image of the actual filed document, and correct the name. I've got that done by the time he finishes explaining why he's calling. I tell him to refresh his page, and the correction's there.
This guy's so impressed, he says that, even though he didn't support my boss, a Republican, based on the quality of the people he hired, he was going to vote for him for reelection.
When elected officials outsource work to the private sector, those private sector businesses kick some of those taxpayer dollars back in the form of campaign donations. There's always a clause that lets the office get out of a contract if the private contractor fucks up bad enough. I've never seen a Republican official pull the plug on any contract, no matter how bad it got.
For all their talk of fiscal responsibility, Republican officials don't see taxpayer money as real money, because it's not coming directly out of their pockets.
But look at how hard Leonard Leo had to bribe people just to get Roberts on the Supreme Court, along with Alito, Thomas, Scalia, and Kennedy. That was a lot of effort on his part.

There's such a stigma against getting help for mental health issues I didn't even know what 988 was until literally this moment.
It's only been a national shortcut number for about a year, so this isn't unusual.
