There are lightening bolts of retribution firing off in that little walnut sized kitty brain.

Monsieur Grumpe's avatar

Obviously fake. I don't see any human blood.

That chill cat made me laugh!

Crystalclear12's avatar

This will all end in tears.

And blood.

Hmmm, putting kitty's face through the paces, bare handed...

"Is that why they call you Lefty?"

The Wanderer's avatar

Kitty gonna get sweet revenge for that indignity.

That's what the sharp claws and teeth are for. Even playing with big ol' Johnny is an exercise in caution. But he just LOVES to play and is one extremely happy cat when we do.

And then the murders began...

Once again, John Oliver is doing to the lord’s work by taking a tedious but important subject and presenting in an entertaining way.

I would have preferred the Samantha Bee wanking gif over Frothy’s.

This is the 3rd Friday of the month, so it's time for the San Francisco Wonk Meet Up!

6PM at the Eclipse Restaurant and Bar in the Atrium of the Embarcaro Hyatt Regency. We sit in front of the bar and on the right as you cross from the elevators. Look for a woman in a wheelchair--that's me.

I still have mixed feelings about Starliner. On the one hand, Boeing has become such a shit company that I wouldn’t give them a contract to make paper airplanes.

On the other hand, the alternative right now is still Muskrat and SpaceX. We really can’t afford as a country to give that asshole a monopoly on delivering our astronauts to the ISS.

Even Bezos’ penis rocket is looking good by comparison.

beb's avatar

When the contract to build crew transport vehicles back in 2014 we did not how terrible Boeing had become as an engineering company. They claimed, because if all the companies they had absorbed, experience dating back to Apollo. Never mind that most of those people had retired. And because NASA thought that they knew what they ere doing so NASA did not keep a close eye on what Boeing was doing. That this is the third flight of Starliner and they are still having problems with it is not a good look for Boeing or NASA at this point.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

The problem began because NASA had no replacement for shuttle program ready to go (the reason for that is a long political and bureaucratic comedy of errors). NASA made the decision to cede LEO to the private sector, specifically SpaceX and Boeing, while it focused on the SLS and Orion capsule to get us back to the moon.

Both projects were plagued with delays and failures but SpaceX did finally get the Crew Dragon to work a few years ago while Boeing continued to do shit work on the Starliner.

In retrospect, giving these two companies contracts with little to no input or oversight has turned out to be a mistake.

PRW's avatar

'We let Boeing build the “Starliner” that delivers our astronauts to the space station? Why did we do that?' Because the alternative was Elmo Sunk.

beb's avatar

But "Elmo Sunk" did get a contract. And he delivered on it four years ago and to date it has sent eight missions to the space station and a couple of independent flights.

theCryptofishist's avatar

We should have gone with Airbus.

beb's avatar

Gone with a European company? That was never going to happen. There are other companies capable for building a crew transport vehicle: Lockheed-Martin, Northrup-Grumann or Sierra Space.

I know by this time of day this is a mostly cold thread, but I want to put this somewhere outside my mind, so here goes.

The other day I was noncommenting about how I work on house fire cases, and how sometimes the greatest sadness to such a case is when a pet doesn't get out in time and dies. Well, a new case came in today, and the cat didn't get out, and died from the fire. And this was an intentionally set fire, where one friend got in an argument with another friend and set the couch on fire. Fucking people.

ZorPern's avatar

I'm sorry. I'm glad you let it out.

You share so many thoughtful, insightful things throughout the day. Hoping for good dreams, man.

We don't want those "fucking people" cuz/and the entire planet should be a utopia by now... Alas.

(I always join in on cold threads <thanks for the term> cuz I join late)

You put it outside your mind by putting it into ours??!!

Gee, thanks.

Next time try something else. WTAF

I'll put a content warning notice on it next time. Unless I don't.

PAUL's avatar

Gee, thanks.

Be better if there were no next time.

Paul, I disagree. Tetman is sharing something awful he witnessed, and he's allowed.

Also, I see plenty of opportunity in the original post to say, I don't want to know what happened and not finish reading. YMMV.

Manuel's Tavern is the best. That has been the bar for Democrats in Atlanta for years. If I remember right, they have a portrait of JFK in the bar.

Wonkettes that have investments soaring with Nvidia should consider cashing out while the ride is high. The DotCom bust of 2000 saw the glorious tech market lose 78% over the following 2.5 years. I spend as much time researching and reading finance/economics/investment stuff as you wonder Wonks do what you do. Consider consolidating your gains, consider protecting what you have. Love you gals. Wonks rule the universe or the part that really matters!

Eric Fucking Adams.

I just don't know.

Fucking neglecting the libraries - THE LIBRARIES, FOR FUCK'S SAKE - probably to send more money to the giant sucking sound that is the NYPD. Probably they need more immobile cop robots in the subway? Just make sure you collapse of heatstroke in your own home instead of on the sidewalk because then they'll have to arrest you for vagrancy.

We have such wonderful priorities these days. 🤬
