For much of my lifetime our government had been at war against a plant. Now I can go to a store in Santa Barbara and buy that plant if I choose. It looks like after wasting billions of dollars on the drug war, the plant won.
Back in the '70s when I was still in the Navy I went to a cannibal restaurant in the South Pacific. While looking at the menu I noticed that missionary soup cost $7 a bowl. A little further down they had politicians soup and it cost $18 a bowl, I asked the waiter why politician soup was so much more expensive than missionary soup and he replied, "do you know how hard it is to clean one of those bastards."

Clinton and Obama reduced the deficit without the need to reduce spending (Clinton actually balanced the budget and ran a surplus until W took office and screwed that up with a massive tax cut for the wealthy)
