The first anti-immigration act in American history was the Page Act. It was followed by The Chinese Exclusion Act.

American has demonized Asians since Asians tried to live and work in America.

The Immigration Act of 1924 was targeted at Asian and Jewish people, and why Jewish people could not flee to the US from Nazism.

Hey there, Dok & Rebecca!

I saw that link to the Washington Blade what is a historically important small LGBTQ paper what actually sends reporters to the White House press room for the White House press conferences which I still find mind-blowing that they let the local queer paper into! Your commitment to supporting other, smaller outlets does not go unnoticed.

At least today. While I'm thinking about it.

A significant percentage of them are attracted to LGBTQA+ people.

And their religion tells them that is a sin.

Which is why there appears to be a disproportionate number of people who are vociferously anti-LGBTQA+ in their public proclamations (and actions, voting against LGBTQA+ rights), only to be arrested in a public restroom soliciting what they so publicly oppose.

You would be welcome, except I don't think that actually includes me. I don't do nearly as much writing on specifically trans topics as I used to do, and when I do, it's over at my blog and not so much here. So this is more just echoing you and celebrating the Wonkers & Wonketteers who have overcome the difficulty of communicating important information on a website with no comments in order to provide exactly that education which I have been too lazy to do lately.

sadly, yes. Takes a day or two for them to come up with the 'Own the Libs' snappy comeback/talkingpoint/HENGHHHHsothere mantra that they will all parrot on TV interviews, Sunday shows, on the Twatter. It's funny to watch their milling confusion in the meantime, as they have no original or critical thought processes.

Their bravery has been such an inspiration. I wish I knew more IRL.

Hmmm. Just getting off 4 years of probation for throwing water balloons at people, and the first impulse is to throw water balloons at people?

Given the court order part, it almost feels like the balloon throwing isn’t directed at consenting or competing targets?

Sorry, I are a bot and sometimes don’t understand human behavior....

It comes out of a kind of raging imperialism, same as race hate and, in this context, same as the sort of generic hatred of women that has been part of the right-wing subtext for years, with endless attacks on abortion and contraception rights, sex education, and what the Republicans used to jeeringly call "women's lib."

As the GOP has gone fascist, so has the rhetoric: when it comes to women, Republicans are now full in the territory of Kinder, Küche, Kirche, the other KKK. And as the culture war on gays has become less profitable, they've transferred the energy to this war on trans people, especially trans kids.

All these attacks on humanity, in whatever form, are about concentrating human power in the hands of a very few white men. It's about imperial power. It's the core of capitalism.

In Israel, where Bibi is still struggling to form a coalition more than a week after the election, he has been promised a coalition that will let him hold power (hence keep him out of jail) if he will agree with the splinter parties of the right to roll back women's rights.

Israel, oddly enough, is ranked as one of the most LGBTQ-friendly societies on earth (although even there the horrid coalition between the ultra-Orthodox and the oligarchs is beginning to create the ugly rhetoric that is always the preliminary to ugly laws). We'll see.

Other-ing isn't a Christian problem, it's not even a religion problem. It's a human problem. It's what we do, it's what we've done probably since the very first of us, and we'll probably continue to do in some form or another until the last of us.

Or aliens show up.

As a child, my mother once told me it had snowed on April 1st and there was no school. I was so excited, and then she said "April Fools"! :(

I agree! I'm old and white and suburban and know very little about the enormous obstacles our trans friends face every day. While it is not their job to educate cis people, insight into someone else's perspective is always valuable and appreciated.
