my mom gets them for osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia. she still has pain. it hurts her to get a hug. everyone has a different tolerance to pain. one standard for everyone will not work.

As someone who also has fibromyalgia, opioids are the worst thing for it. Chronic opioid use causes hyperalgesia, which is more or less what fibromyalgia itself is. Better things are SSRIs, meds that treat neuropathic pain like gabapentin and even acupuncture and myofascial release. Unless she isnt a surgical candidate ,joint replacement works amazingly for a lot of people. NSAIDs, lidocaine patches, physical therapy may not work as well at first but they help. Sorry, I get passionate about this. Fentanyl is a great drug when used correctly, incorrectly it kills people, especially the patches and the lollipops. I Could go on for hours about how and why.

she was on oxy for years through pain management. she has been on the fentanyl for three, or four.

she has very little cartilage any where in her body. without the pain meds, she cannot move. she is on many different medications. she takes one specifically for her fibromyalgia. she was on disability for pain before her fibro diagnosis.

Same. I can totally see how people get hooked on it.

Though I guess it doesn't work for everyone. I know someone that said it did zilch for his pain.

I think I saw a recent article that said peyote was also very effective.

I was being snarky, but yes. And this is probably worse. I can imagine some blissfully uninvolved person ending up in this database for wishing a friend 'Felize Navidad' on FB, or being seen shopping in the 'ethnic food' aisle at Giant Eagle.

Oh Marceline, white people don't do those dirty street drugs. (efoveks steps aside lest the lightning bolt hit her).

Seriously though, I went to a university that was white privilege on steroids, when cocaine was king. These "nice white kids" who had every advantage in the world had no problem acting as if the rules did not apply to them. They usually got away with it. On one occasion though, the guy in charge of getting advertisers for the school's newspaper was caught embezzling $25k- $50k (no one was quite sure how much). What was he doing with it? Using it to fund his tax free enterprise in coke. He had his own plane (what? you don't?) to SoCal to pick up the stuff and sell it through his frat. I kid you not. And just to keep the money in perspective, this was 35 yrs ago, so... a lot more in today's dollars.

True story.

We'll see when the rich criticizes the Reich.

Nope, nope and nope. His practice was explicitly dedicated to managing severe, untreatable pain. It even had "pain" in the title. The lazy, useless fuckers at the DEA picked on him for that reason alone.

That's unfortunate. There aren't enough people who specialize in chronic pain treatment. Your average GP just puts people on stupidly high doses of Neurontin and expects them to function without falling from being over sedated.

Let's be honest, this is an excuse to go after the green states.

Realized I should have been more clear: whoever is putting Fentanyl in people's heroin or oxy is the pure evil in flesh; the drug itself is just a drug and has great uses.

I had 40 5mg hydrocodones after major pelvic surgery and it was nowhere near enough.

Yes, because the re-sellers are usually old people that have huge prescriptions and huger bills. It's like Amway or Avon except everyone wants what is being sold.

The 90s really are back! Does this mean Tipper is going to show up and tell us about how Nicki Minaj needs to dress more like a lady and not show her pretty butt all the time?
