I feel like we all just got done agreeing that Gina Carano posting controversial tweets and having her career suffer for it is pretty much what you should expect when you go on social media and write things that will give your employers heartburn. So why are we supposed to lose a lot of sleep over this? Especially when a lot of the targets of Tanden's tweets were Senators who are expected to confirm her, and work with her if she takes over OMB.
Since Manchin votes with republicans more than half the time, the purity pony accusation comes up lame. Yeah, now that Schumer is majority leader he can get democratic legislation to the floor for a vote. And more often than not, Manchin will vote with repubs on it.
I'll just note also that if McConnell was still Majority Leader we wouldn't be able to complain about Manchin's votes on nominees like Tanden because nominees like Tanden wouldn't even get a chance to be voted on.
Manchin got slapped back in line on the Covid Relief defection by Biden and Harris. This is payback by Manchin for that public kick in the ass, and a warning that he still matters and they can kiss his butt. He's a weasel but he's crafty and a survivor.

Like I said, if my choice is Biden picking them subject to Manchin's approval, I'd take that over Biden picking them subject to McConnell's approval.
