I drive an HHR, and rarely pay above $3/gallon. There was a blessed week or two in 2020 when it was practically down to 1990s prices.

When my 19 year old Toyota truckette finally dies my dream vehicle is a Tesla Cybertruck. If Neuralink keeps up its rate of improvement there could even be a direct mind-vehicle interface. We're living in yesterday's science fiction story and don't even realize it.

When he got into politics no Republican could win a seat in his area (still resentful about the Civil War). Now the dynamic has changed, but Manchin hasn't.

If you're in decent shape you can dig the trench yourself over a couple of weekends, toss whatever cable type the electrician specifies in it, and cover it up again. Now your labor cost is reduced to just having an electrician connect each end. (And even then in most states you're allowed to make that connection yourself, but most people aren't that confident.)

Just got ourselves a plug-in hybrid for our retirement car. Can basically do all our local errands without gas. Already feeling out of date after seeing all the cute little all-electric cars that have hefty electric ranges.

Where's all the electricity to power all the EVs going to come from, is what I want to know? I mean, we already have a paucity of electrical generating power plants. More coal? More dams? More wind and solar? Nuclear??? When's it ever going to be enough? We need mass transit, is what we need. I don't care what Koch brother has to say about it.

We keep hearing about voter fraud. That's the best explanation I have for her "win" here.

I'll bet the upcoming Cadillac Lyriq will qualify for full rebates. Supposedly going to be built in Spring Hill, which is a Union plant I think. Still too much money for my wallet, even though it's probably cheaper than most of the players in that class of luxury electric crossover/SUV.

An often ignored concept related to that:Many existing power plants have periods (mostly at night) where they have excess capacity because of how/when power is consumed, and devices that can be time-independent in their power usage can take advantage of those excess-capacity times. Many areas also have lower power costs during those times (time variable or demand-time rates), so intelligent chargers can be set to charge cars during those times of excess generation capacity, which can also be cheaper. This is also being done with things like heat pump water heaters, so they will wait to heat water until a certain time of day for the same reasons of power capacity and power cost. Some of the power companies have pilot programs to control the water heaters remotely, so the water heaters can be turned off to smooth grid demand, or turned on during off-peak times, etc.. Early days for concepts like that.
