We're NOT saying Joe Manchin is a honey badger. But he don't give a shit. West Virginia "Democrat" Joe Manchin said in a weekend interview that he's perfectly happy being one of three Senate Democrats who didn't sign on to a letter stating the party's line against Republican plans for a massive tax cut. (For laughs, the Rs are calling it "tax reform," although by all indications, all they plan to do is cut taxes.) Manchin is up for re-election in 2018 and says he supports the Democratic plan, but won't sign the letter because he's all mavericky and stuff, and wants the option of a bipartisan tax bill. Also fairy dust. What's more, he, a Democrat seeking re-election in 2018, says there is simply
Not my idea of a perfect senator, but w/o Manchin the ACA gets repealed and 25 million people lose their health insurance.
Capito, the kind of senator you are likely to get in place of Manchin in WV, was apparently more than happy to strip insurance from huge numbers of her own constituents.
I mean, I disagree with him on that shit, too, but a guy who takes the opposite positions just will not be elected in West Virginia, period, full stop, end of story. It's hardcore Trumpian conservative, wishy-washy blue dog Dem or nothing at all. You gotta take what you can get and not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Oh, my dear lord, what we will get if there's no Manchin is Patrick Morrissey. That is much much worse than Shelley Moore Capito. Capito is awful -- Morrissey would be be down at the Ted Cruz/Tom Cotton level of shit. In the house Capito was in the 10% of most moderate R's. Morrissey would be on the ass end of that scale...
Of course, it was open to unaffiliated voters and Donald Trump was the last man standing on the other side so the rat fucking opportunity was there for those who wanted it.
But, I'm told by BernieBros that this could not possibly have been a factor.
And there's the rub. When you gotta vote for a guy from your party who's against most of the things the party stands for.
Edited to add that as of 2010, he voted against gay people serving in the military. So check that box, too! The only issue he's to the left on is healthcare. THAT'S IT. So we should now become single issue voters, I guess.
dude...west virginia is Kobayashi Maru...they drank the coal juice. and got drunk on the trump juice.
fuck them.

joe should wear a honey badger in his underoos for a week. a pissed off, hungry honey badger. think he'll give a shit then?
too bad it's turned into a nightmare.
i'm beginning to think they are everyone's worst enemy.
what "good" have the dems done lately? republican lite, is still republican.

Bernie won the West Virginia Democratic Primary.

When you have Norco for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an aperitif of crystal meth...it doesn't really matter where you live.

I understand what you're saying, but doesn't getting more wishy-washy Blue Dogs elected get even more of the same elected?
Well, since all the mountaintops have been blown off.....
Be advised, WV is coming to your state if Trump's nonsense is not rescinded.
Trying to be a Democrat in West Virginia would bring the Queeg out in the best of us.
He made so much money off of his daughter's EpiPen scam that why would he care?
