"a four-month investigation by Rolling Stone, and a first-hand account by Christopher Hitchens in Vanity Fair. "
To be fair, Rolling Stone ain't exactly a bastion of high quality, retraction-free journalism and Christopher Hitchins was a Gulf War shill/sexist & mildly racist drunk/two faced hypocrite weathervane. Whatever happened in Ohio in 2004, it was the ONLY presidential election in the last 30 years that Republicans managed to actually win the popular vote (by a rippin' 50.7-48.3 margin) so be nice to Republicans and don't $#!T on their one legitimate presidential victory since the Cosby Show was cancelled.
I don't have a fucking la-z-boy, and I fucking vote in every election, whether I'm inspired or not. You know fuck-all about what I "demand" from a candidate, as if I really could. Dull and competent is FINE by me. It would be a blessed relief. Christ. I voted for Hillary because she was and is, if anything, more than qualified for the presidency, and also, she is not at all dull. I disagreed with her on a few issues, and I spoke out on those issues, but I still voted for her. If she ran again, I would vote for her again, second verse same as the first.
Since when was it required that a Democrat agree with every single thing the Democratic candidate or officeholder says? But do go on with your furniture obsession and percentages, and "lazy entitled American" stereotyping. I'm trying to get away from that type of thinking, but I'm a bad democrat. You're a good Democrat. Good for you!
I'll paraphrase another Wonketeer whose name I can't remember: "The Democratic Party leadership needs to decide what it stands for and who it stands with." Emphasis mine.

More Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than any other losing presidential candidate in US history.
Senate Democrats won over 23 million more votes than Republicans.
I agree with your wife and I hope she doesn't lose faith. I have an old college roommate who is a moderate conservative (OK she's Canadian) and she's horrified at what's become of the Republican party in our lifetime. I have to believe there are others like her here, who aren't living in fear of brown and black people, or gays or women. I feel that there are many in my purple district who would find that they have enough of a voice to demand their Republican candidates refrain from corruption, that they play by the rules, in spirit and letter. I want them to take their party back, I want Rs to be a worthy opponent.
As an Ohioan, I can tell you that Ken Blackwell was a liar and a thief. That election was one of the most screwed up things I've ever witnessed. FFS I really hope Kerry isn't running in 2020.
This is the same sort of thinking that buried stories about Nixon sandbagging the Paris Peace talks before the 68 election, Reagan's people cutting a deal with Iran before he was elected, and was behind the decision not to seek impeachment hearings for Reagan for Iran/Contra, and there being no investigation of the build up to the invasion of Iraq and the use of torture by the United States. The concern again and again is that any of this coming out will undermine the people's confidence in the system. Well just how has that worked out? We're brimming with confidence aren't we? I forget who said it that while physical courage is not uncommon, moral courage is rather rare.
Yes indeed. Baseball was a dirty game, back in the day.
It worked for John McGraw and his teammates on the NL Baltimore Orioles of the 1890s, too.

Not sure if anyone else has posted it, but the NY Times ran a related op-ed a few days ago...

I like the way you think...
At the moment I like Whitehouse/Warren or Harris, Franken/Warren or Harris...

Me to, it's time to hug someone who slightly disagrees with you.
I like your dissertation... but I'm not sure the fairness doctrine is the answer. Getting Money out of Politics would be a good place to start.
Oh no. I’m being called a troll.
Just thinking of the paper cuts...
Is she drinking from an empty bottle? Now that's a cheap high.
