Personally if you are a member of this republican party you are guilty by association. McCain has been an example of a bygone era where negotiation and nuance were still part of the political machinery. That said he has voted for plenty of repugnant legislation so he can still go fuck himself with a poorly maintained chainsaw.

But like it is said in this piece, there are times where I think I see an irritated and disheartened veteran kind of pop like a boil. I would be nice if somehow he could shrug off the yoke of partisan politics and speak with his heart for the next few years. Of course that assumes a) he has a heart, and b) it won't say horrible things....

After Trump called him a "loser" for being caught by the Viet Cong I do not know how McCain can be in the same building as DT. Maybe I'm just a pussy?

Palin thinks the Viet Cong is that spicy pork dish at the local Chinese restaurant in Wasilla.

He almost died because he turned his plane around to look at the bomb blasts. A thing that is both already something he was told not to do and ahd already been shot twice doing. The man is simple a rich wastral and the world would have been better off had he died.

I'm hoping the Homintern will ban him from homosexuality for life. The Hets are more used to dealing with this kind of skeeze...

Yes. One of the older ones. He's only slightly less old than Strom Thurmond, whose ears were still ringing from the Big Bang when he cast his last vote in the Senate.

Think Dok's got a point. This guy was POW for years, refusing to leave early when his influential Dad gave him an out. Can't imagine he relates well to DJT, who only likes vets who 'weren't captured'. As this may, indeed, be his last rodeo, perhaps McCain will become the honorary Wonkette curmudgeon-in-chief we've all been hoping for.

Walnuts and Drumpf are the same; each will only do what is best for himself in the moment.

I think he designed the flag and wrote the Battle Hymn of the Republic at Valley Forge.

Could this be the time that McCain finally says something gutsy and doesn't walk it back at the end of the news cycle? I guess we'll know in three days or so. I'll be tickled as hell if McCain doesn't flip on this.
