This is too complex for me.

My only hesitation about Ossoff is that he doesn't sound like Foghorn Leghorn when he talks. I always presume Senators from Georgia should sound like Foghorn Leghorn.

Just the old racist ones.

I read that Perdue decided to cut 'n' run from the scheduled final debate.

Guess he couldn't defend the Republican "Unaffordable Don't Care Act."

Hi, Dok! Great article, as usual!

P.S., I think it's "soft-pedaling" like a piano foot pedal.

Thanks from Georgia for covering this.

Lisaaug is right. I think Foghorn Leghorn is meant to spoof a Texan politician, as his catchphrases like "That's a joke, Ah say, that's a joke, son," and bombastic mannerisms are based on a character on a 1940s radio show, The Fred Allen Show. Kenny Delmar played a blustery Texan pol called Senator Claghorn.

As for Foghorn Leghorn being based on racist tropes, *Camptown Races plays in the background*, well, look at me when I'm talkin' to ya, boy, *record needle scratch*, it was the 1940s. It would be a shock if there weren't racist overtones.

I don't think he's related to Frank Perdue, who was from Maryland.

David Perdue IS related to Trump administration stooge Sonny Perdue, though--they are cousins.

You used the word "cromulent!" Yet another reason Dr. Zoom and Wonkette are freakin' awesome! You've just embiggened this news source for me!

"[C]romulent will never be one of my favorite words because the sound of the word is very different from the definition.

It is a nice use of the word, though.

It's surprising that all Dems don't use the attacks on SS and Medicare against all Repubs. They used to be considered the "third-rail" of US politics... Touch them and you die. It is an issue Dems should refuse to compromise on and they should boast of that every chance they get. Perhaps more older voters could be persuaded to vote Dem.

And why don't they try to lessen the divisions in the US so we can spend more time and more resources fighting for our place in the global economy?
