Josh Duggar Suing For 'Emotional Distress' Of Everyone Finding Out He Was A Child Molester

Once upon a time, Josh Duggar had it all. His family had approximately 87,000 reality shows on TLC where they could trumpet the awesomeness of their wholesome, patriarchal, constant-baby-having, Jesus-loving Quiverfull lifestyle. His visibility from the show even helped him get a sweet gig as the executive director of the Family Research Council, where he could hang out comfortably on his high horse and yell at gay people for not being as good at being holy and moral and upright as he felt he was.

 But then , one day in 2015, Duggar was knocked right off that damn horse when InTouch Weekly revealed that he had molested and groped four of his sisters and also a cousin when he was 17. Whoops! As a result, he lost his position with FRC, and his family lost their show. You know, because people in general are fairly reluctant to accept moral grandstanding from a literal child molester and the family that protected him and shielded him from having to deal with the consequences of being a literal child molester. Weird!

Following Duggar's ever-so-sincere apology for his child molesting ways, it was soon revealed that he was still far from the perfect, wholesome Christian patriarch he had positioned himself as, when it turned out that he'd been hanging around Ashley Madison looking for some strange. Oh! And then he (allegedly) beat the crap out of a porn starhe paid to have sex with him! Although he apologized for that, and blamed it on a "porn addiction," Duggar was never again quite able to reclaim his throne of righteousness.

And, now, he's suing .

He's actually joining a lawsuit previously filed by four of his sisters against the cities of Springdale and Washington County, Arkansas, as well as InTouch , which they claim published information that made them easily identifiable. Their lawsuit makes sense. Him joining it? Not so much!

According to the complaint filed Friday by Duggar's lawyers, the revelation to the larger public that he was a gross child molester caused the poor darling to "to relive painful memories and experiences." Which was just so unfair of them. It must have been deeply traumatizing for him to have to remember sexually assaulting his sisters and cousin.

The lawyers also claim in the suit that Josh "was also subject to the humiliation and extreme mental anguish of being publicly identified."

I don't know about you, but I kind of feel child molestation is a far greater evil than revealing the fact that someone is a child molester. And that if you go around molesting children, the possibility of someone finding that out someday and you having to be "humiliated" by that is simply a risk you take. The fact that he is tacking on his own lawsuit to the lawsuit of his victims is especially galling, even if the victims are his sisters, even if they have "forgiven" him for having assaulted them.

If Josh Duggar didn't want to be humiliated by people finding out he was a child molester, he should not have molested his sisters and cousin in the first place. It's his fault, not InTouch 's, that he now has to deal with the consequences.
