I've avoided cancellation by never, ever doing anything with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or any of that other counterproductive social media garbage.

the ultrarich got that way via two complementary routes:

1. taxation of the poor but not the rich

2. repeated crashes which left the poor in need of liquidating assets at firesale prices. Each crash ratchets more of the total wealth into the plutocrats.

I predict that the anti-big-biz aspects of this will wither away soon, if they even make it into the legislation in the first place, and that only the big-tech punishments will survive.

Regarding which, isn't it rich that Republicans twisted themselves into knots explaining why ISPs, who are plainly common carriers if that phase means anything at all, should not be subjected to FCC regs for common carriers and instead should be treated like totally private actors, i.e., should be able to throttle data to their hearts' content. But actual data-generating platforms like Facebook and Twitter need regulations up the ass all of a sudden, because they've arbitrarily decided that inciting rioters to ransack the U.S. Capitol and physically threaten the people's representatives means you can't use their services any more.

Christ. Is there a minute of the day when these people aren't utter, crass hypocrites?
