Putin just loves to see Americans fighting over which crisis is more deserving of help, considering he’s directly responsible for one and indirectly responsible for the other.
Ukraine is absolutely facing an existential crisis. A much larger, hostile dictatorship is murdering its citizens and hoping to capture its freedom. Israel and Palestinians are suffering more violent instability, but I’m not sure Hawley is correct about Israel facing anything like the crisis Ukraine is. And the politics and facts are easier with Ukraine/Russia. Russia attacked and invaded a free, democratic nation to indulge the will of yet another madman in Europe’s history of madmen. The Middle East indeed has a humanitarian crisis, one that’s been unsettled and boiling over for generations. Many have offered ideas and suggestions to bring peace. People with different ideologies and backgrounds must find a way to live together in peace. The mass murder and kidnapping at a music festival near Gaza doesn’t end the global crisis that is Russian aggression.
I like this Joint Statement of Solidarity, and I think it shows the effectiveness of co-operation and a meeting of minds. Together, we can be more circumspect, more sensitive, more careful, and clearer. We can say what needs to be said in moments of raw fear and anger.
Beyond this, I wonder what we can do as readers and writers and concerned citizens, particularly when we need to care for a great many fellow human beings suffering acute trauma and tempted to speak or even to act out in hurtful ways.
I wonder -- as a human person who identifies as male -- whether the habitual reaction that we see, hear, and read about in the news media is the product of MASCULINE socialization and influence. In particular, I wonder whether it is necessary for us to react to horrific violence with ANGER first and GRIEF second.
I wonder whether a society with stronger FEMININE influence might counsel us to GRIEVE first. To pay our respects for the human beings we have lost BEFORE we do something that may cause us to lose even more human beings.
I do not argue against FEAR, because fear sometimes has a real cause, and that real cause demands action, sometimes immediate action, and sometimes even immediate action that CAUSES fear. The US military has mobilized in the Eastern Mediterranean, and I am not going to argue against this.
But I do wonder whether it is really so natural for us to feel and to express ANGER first and GRIEF second.
I do know that the world does not need more anger. We need to grieve. This is much harder to do, I think. But we have to do it. Every time we skip the necessary work of grieving in order to lash out in anger, we create more reasons to grieve.
What, we can't support both Isreal and Ukraine at the same time? Is not like we ever had a problem mass producing weapons and supplying or friends with them.
It's like that WWII thing where we fought two major wars at nearly opposite sides of the Earth never happened because we are incapable of doing that thing.
Oh and speaking of Tubs, he fell getting off a plane. Is he one of the people who has mocked the president for falling on Air Force One? Why yes, yes he is.
"bunch of mediocre white dudes...". If only. Those bipedal ambulatory conglomerations of mole rat smegma and parrot droppings can't see mediocrity if you launched them into Low Earth Orbit.
Josh Hawley doesn’t have the excuse of being stupid. He knows good and goddam well that Europe’s security depends on stopping Putin’s incursion into Ukraine, and that US security depends on a stable Europe (even if some Americans don’t believe in resisting dictators in other countries). Hawley is cynically playing to his base of evangelical Trumpist Putin lovers, and it is despicable.
We are America. We used to be able to do more than one thing at the same time.
Why is that treasonous wanker still in Congress and not in a penitentiary? It is not like he adds anything of value to our lives out here in freedom, but he would serve as an object lesson to other traitors that aiding and abetting insurrection is not okay, it is severely frowned upon.
“He is jizzing stale borscht at the very thought.“
Hmmmm, he should get that looked at.
I wonder how the training for the 50-yard dash is going.
Putin just loves to see Americans fighting over which crisis is more deserving of help, considering he’s directly responsible for one and indirectly responsible for the other.
And Josh Hawlin’ Ass can go fuck himself.
Putin absolutely had Hawley say that.

Me: yep!
Left unsaid: I announced it on Monday and twice last week. Maybe you should have fucking come to class.
I should also mention that he came in late and was surprised to see all the other students taking the test.

IIRC election odds were ~ 2/3 to 1/3 Hillary - Trump.
1 in 3 odds could never happen. AMIRITE?

Might be worth a try, though
"...bipedal ambulatory conglomerations of mole rat smegma and parrot droppings..." FTW!!!!!
That said, alas, it ain't only dudes. There are some women in that group, too.
Alas.
