I'm more for taking them out behind the barn and shooting them with great white shark tipped votes.

Wow. Exactly like an unprepared, uninformed, highly reactive, and extremely defensive group of people with more power than sense would do. The sort of parent Child Protective Services would remove from parental custody.

The only part of "in loco parentis" they got right was "loco."

Of course they're based on finances. But since at least one study has shown LGBTQ are more likely to fall beneath the poverty line, having an accurate picture of how many such people live in a certain county or state could help better direct funding. There's also the idea that better data could help enforce civil rights protections.I mean, I get there's a potential for any census information to be misused by bad administrations. But considering where the idea comes from and how it's intended to be used, I'm not ready to have screaming hysterics over it yet.

Those programs are based on finances. I'm not LGBTQ but wouldn't identify myself as such as I don't even check the Census Race box.

Is that bad? It's being introduced by Kamala Harris and a group of Demcratic senators. Harris and the other Democrats behind the bill say this information could help more LGBTQ people get access to Medicaid, Section 8 housing vouchers and food aid through the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, or SNAP.
