I don’t know about the 2/3 of the states part. A lot of red for sake of red states these days. But 2/3 of California agreeing to break up the state is another problem. I’ve only known several dozen California transplants to Illinois. Not one of them can shut the fuck up about how awesome California is. Even the doomsday preppers that move here seem to think that if it was at a higher above sea level rating, they wouldn’t have moved here. Sea level rising is a good reason to be in Illinois as opposed to most of Cali. And it is much more real if a threat than Mooselimbs, uppity blacks, Messicans, or big gummit takin’ muh guns.
