The pair of pants that a snake's suspenders are supposed to hold up look pretty weird, also, too.

Surprises? Sadly, no. Angers? Fuck yes.

The jurors couldn't unite their focus on the matter at hand. It was an issue of konzentration-Slager.

Would they then be wearing 'pant'?

Watch out, Wee Mousie! That's no gentleman! ( I could not find a snake in suspenders, the internet, she has let me down) https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

I am from SC. I think the A-hole in Charlotte deserved shooting, but this is ree-dick-u-lus.What a douche bag that juror is, making us all look bad. No freaking way did this cop think the guy running away was going to hurt him,at least 15 feet away at start of shooting.

Can't even be snarky about this. It's just sickening.

Definitely not "pant." If what humans wear is a pair of pants, what snakes wear might better be called "pantses."

It might help if the mandated response to a cop shooting was unpaid leave. Too many of these stories mention the cop being put on paid leave, so my read is that any cop who decides he wants a a vacation (paid leave) just looks for someone to shoot, someone with some quality that will make it eventually ok.Also, too, what is up with the situation where the jury (in the form of the jury foreman) asks to have this nut removed from the jury and the court says too dam bad you're stuck with him? in one of the Malheur trials one juror was kicked off of the jury because he wouldn't vote not guilty (for allegedly having an opinion about application of the laws). Or something. So with that example in mind, what was the need to keep this juror when he was clearly delusional? I wonder what kind of "issues" had been displayed that prompted the request to remove that one juror.

As the (maybe only, seriously my profession is stupidly conservative) cop who starts his day at this site, this sickens me. I hope they don't plea and make this murderer face justice. A bad cop takes lives, destroys families, and makes it more difficult for those of us who do it for the right reasons. It's been a fucked up year, too many of us murdered and too many of us murdering. Legit, I bounce between wishing I could retire now or leading the fight for change. I feel sorry for his family and wish I could help them...

Wow. Just. . . wow. "Oh, it doesn't bother me that someone has to DIE for me to get that notch in my political quiver - it's far more important that I'm able to tell the voters how tough I am on crime!"

Or they ran out of challenges because every other person in the jury pool was so clearly on the fast train to crazy town.

"I just - I tripped! No, I kicked - no, really, more like, swiped - I swiped the taser with my foot and it just happened to end up next to Mr. Scott's body where it looked like he had it in his - I mean, where it obviously had fallen from his hand."

I find it disgusting, though I try to understand how crime victims feel.

I'm against the death penalty for a couple of reasons. I understand that the families of those killed at the Aurora Theater need justice for their loved one. But some wanted vengeance. They wanted to see the shooter die, up close and personal. Even now, they want to know precisely where he is being held, which is against Corrections policy, particularly in high profile cases.

I watched the whole thing play out and I hoped hard that the jury would not return with the death penalty. Because that's not closure. It's years and years and years of hearings and appeals. Returning to court time after time. I feel that's actually really bad for surviving families. Sentenced as he was, he'll never see the light of day again. I think that's the best possible outcome.

I also believe sentences like Holmes, which is something like 450 years, are just... stupid. I know why it's done, but it's dumb. And I kind of feel like being stuck in a box for the rest of your life, with no hope of reprieve is in ways more inhumane than the death penalty.

Morally? Well, I think it requires some super-deep thinking on the the various definitions and interpretations of what exactly morality is. That's a huge subject all on its own.
