As in, a mass mailing to every Part D user explaining that they (Dems/Biden) have funded lower premiums through the end of '27, and the Republicans/Trump are CHOOSING to end it a year early. My body is disintegrating in real time and I really really really am pissed that my insurance changed my copay for specialty care from $35 to $75 last year.
Maybe if you want to do that, offer more specialists at your primary location in my city? I do not want to have to drive 50 miles to the nearest Kaiser hospital.
The HMO insurance plan was fine when I was healthy ish enough to only need my annual visit at my GP, but I'm looking at $300 in specialty copay visits this month alone. At that price, I might as well be on the more expensive PPO plans from my office.
Iβm not QUITE An Old yet, but Mom is, and she has been champing at the bit to vote all there fuckers out ever since they got in. Sheβs on Medicare Advantage too, and as someone who has been dealing with her finances and healthcare for a couple years, Iβve got nothing but good to say about it. We do nothing but go to the doctor. They handle all the paperwork, and she pays nothing. Sheβs been on it for decades, and it has covered every penny (minus copay) of multiple ER visits, hospital stays, $2,000+ per month meds, etc. Definitely SOSHALLIZUM!!!
That said, regarding a non-comment below about long-term care not being covered, fortunately she can afford that without the help. If she couldnβt I might very well have a different opinion.
Ah yes the Take Advantage of you plans. DO NOT DO IT. Since I'm self employed I incur all the costs. It will cost me $500-$600 per month for medicare, low end supplement and drug plan.
When I was signing up for medicare I spoke with a family friend who has spent his life in social security. He told me NOT to get any advantage plan they only work short term and always benefit the insurance company.
My brother had an advantage plan and we learned real fucking fast how much they don't cover. There is no long term care and the medical bills he left behind when he died was nearly $40k. We were forced onto medicaid to get him into a facility so that he could die with care.
As I've been researching for making changes to my current plan I've been reading and listening to those who are now talking about plan N that G's may be coming to an end.
Medicare is getting more expensive as are all supplement plans. We need medicaid for all since medicare doesn't cover much and supplement plans are required at this point. Again fucking insurance companies making money off the supplement plans and pricing them too high for many to afford. IT ALL FUCKING SUCKS.
Mrs. D and I, both 89 and moving up fast, are on Med Advantage plans through our former employer. Generally our experiences have been good, with the Rx part of the program being often clunky but slowly improving. Our provider is Anthem BC/BS, and after checking with the retired educator group in the state where we worked I was told that most in the program are quite satisfied. If our premiums go up after Herr Drumpenfuhrer gets his cut, that will be a bummer.
I was sort of forced into Advantige because itβs what my wifeβs pension offered, we are going to try to get a supplement plan this year. I havenβt had any issues with it but it still pisses me off because I know the way they make money is by over billing the ::;())$ out of Medicare,
I hope I won't need more surgeries and hospital stays from here forward. I haven't paid medical bills since going on Medicare. I have a Medicare advantage plan that helps. A drug plan keeps the prices of my medications low or non-existent. I figure that won't last. It's too good for senior citizens. At least that's the view of Republican senators and House representatives. We have out-lived our usefulness and deserve to die. It's cheaper that way. Crap.

Then there is me who say that the number of votes you get is your weight divided by 150 - we call it "one pound one vote". If you weigh 150 you get one vote. If you weigh 300, you get two. Seems fair!
Those who say our current overlords are violating the Constitution don't get the there no longer IS a Constitution. It died 25 years ago. The first paragraph of the text reads:
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Not one word of this remarkably beautiful paragraph has been true for at least 25 years.
When I retired I learned that my work related health provider offered a Medicare Advantage plan, which I signed up for because I could continue to see the same doctors. I liked my doctor and didn't want to have to go around looking for a new one. I have largely been happy with the Senior Plus program as it's called. The bigger threat comes from Private Equity buying up all the clinics and forcing on them the same economic plan that killed Toys R Us,

I've had an advantage plan for less than a year. So far so good.

My dad was in the hospital for almost a month, and then weeks in rehab. He had no bill for the hospital, but he's been paying off rehab for years.
So sorry. They are ruthless.
And every time he needed something, he was shipped back to the hospital.
