I'll never forget my BIL's words when we were making decisions about my fathers final days and informed that in-facility hospice was not covered and home hospice was our only option. He shook his head, turned to my sister and said, "What's gonna happen to us when we get old? They just gonna throw us out in a ditch somewhere?"
American capitalism is an insidious disease bleeding its' most vulnerable citizens dry.
Just as intended.

The Dems need to scream out this message: REPUBS AREN'T REPUBS ANY MORE. A lot of people seem to be in the habit of just voting for (R). They need to know that they aren't voting for actual Repubs--they're voting for trumpy cultists.
I help admin a local FB page. We started allowing political posts that discuss issues affecting local people. I often post Wonkette articles. As we made a point to refuse entry to our page to all local MAGAts we often get some good discussions.
My town also started a page for local voting issues. There are fairly normal conversations between different sides, but the MAGAts absolutely cannot have a civil disagreement. Even our "Nice Discussion Group" has people that are not nice, and 99% of the time our local Trumpers are talking about TDS and "libtards" (which I find extremely offensive).
The vast majority of the remaining boomers receiving Social Security benefits will bitch about the cuts and go right on voting for the RethugliKKKlanSS who did the cuts. My generation has always been THAT stupid, even in their twenties. smh. Children of the Greatest Generation turned out to be the Most Selfish Generation.
Yeah, but that's kind of how people feel about lawyers. Abstract lawyers? Hate 'em. *Their* lawyer? Well, not him, he's a good guy, but those other lawyers still suck.
So it goes here. Most people, definitionally, like or tolerate their own Congresscritter specifically, and hate the rest.
If the subsidy is supposed to go thru 2027 by law, how are they getting away with this?*. This may be in the article, but the WSJ site still wants a login to read it. Bah.
*Pfft, silly laws. Break things first and wait for the legal system to catch up.
"Checks And Balances" doesn't mean what we were taught in school.
"Checks" is a means of transferring money. "Balances" refers to how much money there is in the accounts of the Elites.
Besides, any more the government can just say they don't have any money to pay for the things they've promised, and collected the money for. Should the courts come along in the next 2-4 years, they may very well accept that argument anyway.
People are saying AARP is losing membership to some new outfit called the Senior Liberation Army (SLA) which is forming gun-toting militias in the retirement communities that exist in every state. The core leadership of this radical group are graduates of the once-defunct Symbionese Liberation Army who still have boxes of t-shirts and promotional literature in their storage lockers, basements and garages.
NO! Their most famous ex-member is not involved. But she does routinely upvote the funny pet videos the old folks put on their social media alongside their instructional videos about proper gun safety and maintenance. They also post recipe's for molotov cocktails.
The barricades of wheel chairs and walkers will be next to impossible to get past as the immobile snipers keep plinking away from the flower beds and the third floor gym windows at the community center.
“In addition, the Journal points out that the higher Part D premiums are likely to “push more Medicare enrollees into Medicare Advantage, the private-insurer version of Medicare”
THIS is the real reason they are doing this. The private insurers are lobbying way up their asses to get more enrollees because they profit off them. I work in senior living and I am familiar with every aspect of this and I know that everyone in my line of work would absolutely want straight Medicare over these plans. To quote a tech bros but this time believe it “Trust me bro”
Yep, plus the part where a number of medical insurers whose primary business was Medicare (say, Cigna) were heavily damaged by the Big Stupid Bill. My guess is that this is an attempt by Trump to mollify some very wealthy, very angry people in the healthcare industry.
I am so pissed at Kaiser. Our daughter has insulin resistance with possible PCOS and has been prescribed a weight loss drug due to massive weight gain in the last year. The Dr sent in a letter explaining that our daughter is on her feet at work for a minimum of 8 hours a day and is getting more exercise than most people. The weight gain is a medical issues. Kaiser have denied her saying they don't pay for weight loss drugs. Dr is going to try again but for now she is stuck with a $500 a month cost.
Looks like they planted him yesterday in Pickens County SC where he grew up.

Medicare advantage is great until you need it. I'm in the FO category now
With all due respect, M. Rags, you should have seen that coming.

Only if you are a liberal judge. That rule does not apply to conservatives.

You have to keep in mind, and say out loud, that TDS is what the Trump.ass.suckers have.
Totally Delusional Simpletons, Inc.
Thank you for this aside:
(Yes, little libertarian screamers, those subsidies were paid for with taxes. We live in a society, fuck you.)

I'm X and my generation is just as bad.
There are a lot of Boomers right here on teh Wonkette. Let’s not stereotype the entire generation, m’kay?
What a shame that people are stupid enough to vote against their own interests.
as long as Dipshit is hurting the blacks/Hispanics/poor's they are just fine voting for the R's
A scary amount of people are motivated by emotional issues, not logic.
You cannot easily, if at all, change their minds with a logical argument.
No, because the minute you threaten their worldview, they start burning logic.

It's a more acceptable solution than what I am inclined toward.
I'd prefer to see them lined up against a brick wall and s***.
Snotted upon?
Shat?

Once again, I'm the outlier.
Lately, my lawyer has been pissing me off.
Bigly.
Glad I'm mostly done with needing him.
YOUR lawyer is a lying asshole. MY lawyer is a knight searching for justice.
I can’t help but wonder if this was the plan all along. Make people hate Congress so much that they will gladly accept a dictator to take their place.
At least the price of cocaine hasn’t gone up (or so I hear)
More importantly, murdering all those innocent fishermen hasn’t impacted the availability for us liberals at all!
I used to know a guy. Who said he knew a guy. 40 years ago.

For trumpy, laws are just guidelines.
Not even guidelines.
Simply suggestions.

When I was co-teaching "checks and balances" this year, alongside a Trumpy teacher, my head was exploding every day.

Hey Matt, yer kids probably don't like you either.
Matt Schlapp says he might have to move to get away from hatful people. Dude, no matter where you go, there YOU are.
The comments are great.

I don't know, they're getting the generation that can remember when the NRA was all about gun safety, not grifting.
Outdated prescription glasses are sure to be an issue. Dont ask me how I know.
Since when did Wayne Newton become a pharmacist?
Either that, or Walter Matthau in an SNL sketch.

I'm a retired Federal employee who had Kaiser from my employment and that was fine. Then Trump forced us into Medicare Advantage with Kaiser...🤬
I am so pissed at Kaiser. Our daughter has insulin resistance with possible PCOS and has been prescribed a weight loss drug due to massive weight gain in the last year. The old “wait until you have the disease rather than prevent it” move
OT have they planted Lindsey yet? I need to pee.
"Employees Must Wash Hands Before Returning To Work."
If they plant that turd in Arlington...this gold star father will reply...🤮
